The main reason I rarely eat at chain restaurants. A family owned business would never allow this.
Right dream on! bad employees and people are everywhere. You can’t tell what time of day this occurred or even if the restaurant was open. Tactless as it is, it may have happened after hours before the machine was broken down for cleaning. We just don’t have enough info to condemn anyone over the picture.
A few years ago I was at a college football game with a friend. He went to get a cup of coffee. He said while he was in line, he observed a female employee of the coffee stand picking her nose. She was one of Holder’s people. He ordered his coffee, and she picked a cup, and put her nose picking finger in it. He got angry and complained. The manager, or boss, basically sided with the female. My friend got his coffee, but only after getting a different cup, and he watched her like a hawk as she filled it.
Well, you might want to checkout the tv show, “Restaurant Stakeout.” On the other hand, maybe you would rather not know...
not this particular behavior by employees, but by family, yes. even then they wouldn’t do it when other people were around.
you need to watch Kitchen Nightmares.

Sweeney Todd
Apparently you've never watched Mystery Diners or Restaurant Stakeout on the Food Network.
Me: Yes, I`d like a chocolate milkshake.
Employee: We dont have milkshakes, how about a Frosty?
Me: Whats in a Frosty?
Employee: Yells to Manager in the back: Hey boss, Whats in a Frosty?
One-minute delay
Manager: Frosty Mix
Ummmm, while a "family owned business" gets to choose the decor, the menu, and other such items, what makes them different than a franchise-run business? Even if they are actually staffed by only family members, there's nothing to guarantee that someone isn't disgruntled, etc...
There is not absolutely "safe" eating establishment - one can only hope the dice don't come up craps...
