Too bad he couldn’t have been the last captain of the USS Enterprise.

If I was in his shoes I’d change my middle name to something more appropriate!

He looks exactly like I’d expect a naval officer who spent his entire career withstanding jokes and snickers about his name. You know it was brought up at promotion boards, among office staff, with his kids, pretty much everywhere, probably at least once a week for well over twenty years. That is a lifetime of balled up fury composed into a single photograph. I would not want to be standing in front of him for his first captain’s mast.

My son shares his first and last name and middle initial!
Hopefully he grows up to be a patriot like this man.

Just for fun they should invite Chris Pine and Bill Shatner to the Zumwalts commissioning ceremony.

He was commissioned at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990 He was commissioned in 1990, which means he was probably born around 1968, while the original Star Trek was running (it ran 1966-69). I'm going to guess that the father thought it would be cute for his son to grow up as "James Kirk".
