I would like to know when the abused will finally receive absolution for sins caused when their lives spiraled out of control by the sins of another?

I know folks who were sexually abused as young children. This abuse sent them into a prison, a life of hyper sexuality, multiple marriages / divorces, self medicating with drugs and alcohol to numb the emotional trauma, trust and anger issues, sexual identity issues......you name it.

The catholic church has yet to offer a blanket absolution for these folks, yet the priest that stole their childhood, stole their innocence received forgiveness and absolution. The abusers are often times restored and return to the table.

The abused are held to a different standard. They must go through an almost impossible task of researching ex wives, witnesses, thousands of dollars to the diocese and all the hoops that accompany the annulment process.

Should their not be a blanket absolution by the church for those who have gone through such misery? Sometimes hiding their shame for decades, now wanting to rejoin their brothers and sisters in celebrating all the sacraments...but are held away by the very church that facilitated the abuse.

I dunno, just sayin.

Any priest who is,in fact, responsible for such abuse may very well wind up in hell...depending on whether or not they truly repented for their grievous sins. But the lawyers who brought suits like this will most certainly wind up in hell (because they’ll surely never repent) and some of their clients may as well...depending on the circumstances of individual cases.

“It was a sad comment, kind of scary,”

I agree.

And, I'd add to the saying "As people get older they get wiser" that avoiding this issue is unwise.

Long ago, as a young sailor making my way across the nation on leave, I ran into a gay priest at a train station in New Mexico. It was the middle of the night and nothing happened, but ... I discovered that gay priests exist.

And now, after long ago marrying a USO hostess and raising four kids, one of whom was gay, I'd say that God makes people that way.
