Most people who grew up in the 80’s would rather have grown up in the 50’s!.. or maybe they’re too stupid to realize their misfortune.

Hell, the strength of our currency back in those decades was enough reason to want to live in them. I’d be even more wealthy than I am if I’d been in my twenties during the fifties.

Of course, the hippie generation and Vietnam probably would’ve put a crimp on my life.

I remember the 1950s as a child. Those years were GREAT for me!

Then it all came to an end in 1956. Then ten years of hell that has “marked” for life all us kids.

I’ll bite, what happened in 1956 that scarred an entire generation?

House blew up, burned my mom horribly, then my dad got a wild hair and moved us from the intermountain region to the tick and chigger infested Ozarks.

He had personal demons following him so we never stayed very long in one place.

Got it. Sorry, I thought you meant on a bigger scale. Not something personal.

We used to pick up some serious injuries in the old days, besides our guns, rocks, sling shots, and BB guns, and pipe bombs, and hardcore explosive “firecrackers” like cherry bombs, we also had to deal with nails in our feet and broken glass everywhere, people would just throw an empty bottle when they were finished with it, to hear it break, and of course kids were often, even usually, barefoot.

Growing up in the 70’s was tough because so many adults around you were pushing the Obama vision of America.

America is evil. America is corrupt. Our best days are behind us because Saigon has fallen. America is just another of many countries on the globe now. So put on your sweater, turn down the thermostat and shut up!

The amazing thing to me about Obama is that HE STILL BELIEVES ALL THAT CRAP!

The more astounding thing to me is that a narrow voting majority of Americans voted to keep this sh*t sandwich in office for another four years.

I grew up in the late 70s-80s in rural America. It was actually ok. Stark difference from how kids are growing up today in rural areas. Scared by social services, etc.
