A family dog in Thailand is credited with bringing home an abandoned newborn baby on Monday.
The two-year-old canine named Pui found a plastic bag with a newborn baby girl inside and carried the infant back home. Officials believe the baby was abandoned at a roadside dump in Tha Rua district of Ayutthaya province.
According to a report in the Bangkok Post, when Pui returned home, it barked loudly to get its owners attention. A 12-year-old girl named Sudarat Thongmak came out of the home and was shocked to find the baby with her umbilical cord still attached. After getting her parents, the family rushed the baby to the hospital.

GIVE THAT DOG A BONE, OR TWO OR THREE
Many dogs are much better than many people.
Pui? Isn't that Thai for yuck, no good, do not want?
Ptui, I think.

Says the dyslexic who named her dog Halla...

Not that I don’t believe you or anything...

Another fairly accurate cliché is if people don’t like dogs or babies then watch em
Or if a dog or toddler acts wary of someone then it might be for a reason
Pfffft.
Ya got me.
:^P
Oh bloody hell.
That was for nully.
*smooch*
What do you say about a guy who applauds the cops shooting a veteran’s tethered dog inside of his own home during a “mistaken” door-busting drug bust?

Pui is fertilizer. It’s a common nickname for kids as well. Everyone here goes by their nickname except in very formal or legal situations.
While the practice is changing, traditionally those names were chosen to avoid the interest of ghosts wandering about looking for kids to occupy and subjugate so they had an unpleasant connotation.
Now western names, especially feminine sounding names for girls, like Stella (my own niece), Gigi, Jennifer, Jenny, Lisa, etc. are in vogue. Some other nicknames I’ve come across recently are Sun, Boss, and Fame.
Also there is a neighborhood kid named Balloon. Yes, he is fat, and no, he does not seem to mind the nickname at all and I’ve never seen another kid tease him about it.
HTML show-boater.
;D
Thank you, what little Thai I learned (from an American in El Segundo, of all places) is rather rusty.
Still, I got the sense of the word, not bad after 35 years. Some day I’m gonna have to actually visit Thailand...
Not bad at all.
Yes, it’s still a good place to visit. If you don’t mind the heat and/or rain, come other than in high season (Nov-Feb). It’s a lot cheaper, less crowded, and more relaxed.
Heat? Humidity? I was raised in Beaufort...
