About 30 years ago, my wife miscarried after 4-1/2 months. A few hours later she had me ask the doctor to have the remains sent to a local funeral parlor. Two things happened then. First the doctor said the fetus had been disposed of with medical waste, and second, none of the funeral homes in the area would accept “medical waste” for services or burial. I got the fetus back by taking the doctor into a small room and threatening to beat the crap out of him. He gave the dead baby to me in a white plastic bag. We buried the remains on private land in a small service known only to us and one clergy, and we never saw the doctor again.
I am so sorry for your loss, BuffaloJack. I am also so proud of you! You didn’t back down and see your son or daughter as “medical waste”. You and the clergy person you found gave your child dignity and respect. God Bless you!
Similar occurrence in my life - be 12 years ago this July that Tsubasa Daniel passed from the mouth of the lions on the wings of an angel. In our case the state we were in, WI, required proper action beyond a certain gestation time so I only had to make the appropriate arragements.
Prayers to you and yours.
