BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Adam Arroyo has lived in his Breckenridge apartment for three years but has never experienced a day like this past Monday; when police busted down his door in search of drugs, shooting and killing his dog in the process.
"She's over here, chained up, and look at all these bullet holes man. Look at the blood right here," Arroyo explained as he showed Eyewitness cameras where his pit bull mix Cindy had been shot.
"She was tied up in the kitchen like I tie her up every single day, and they shot her for no reason."
When Arroyo returned home Monday evening he found his apartment torn apart, door busted down and several bullet holes in his kitchen wall.
He also found a search warrant for 304 Breckenridge, upper apartment.
The suspect named in the warrant was described as a black male and was wanted on suspicion of dealing crack.
Arroyo is Hispanic and lives at 304 Breckenridge, upper-rear apartment, which has a completely separate entrance and is clearly marked on his mail box.
Reporter: "You have never used or sold drugs in this apartment?" Arroyo: "Never. Never. I don't do drugs. I'm a United States veteran. I work everyday. I'm just trying to live my life."
Arroyo is a combat veteran who served in Iraq and plans to join the National Guard. This incident, however has left him heart-broken and angry.
"For police to wrongfully come into my house and murder my dog... It wasn't that they felt threatened. No. They murdered my dog," said Arroyo, beginning to tear up.
"That was my dog, man. That was my dog. They didn't have to do that, you know. They didn't have to do that."
Arroyo now has to pay to have Cindy cremated. He also had to repair his door at his own cost and has had to miss work.
He plans now to press charges against the City of Buffalo.
Buffalo Police spokesperson Michael DeGeorge says Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the case, but that police believe they had the proper address.
He also says detectives "don't believe the dog was chained or leashed" when they executed the raid. Adding that if any wrong doing is found in the investigation that officers will face consequences.
DeGeorge could not comment on whether officers found any drugs inside the apartment.
If you had funds for food and veterinary care certainly you could have found the money for a kennel. You can pick them up for less than $50.00 on Craigslist.
You asked a question. I have answered you twice. Not my fault if you don’t like or don’t agree with the answer. Your problem, not mine.
You keep sputtering. You’re not fooling anyone.
Such “dog breed” stats have long ceased to be useful, according to the CDC. No one has them — despite the screeching and whining of many in trying to prove otherwise.
As for your question, I’m sure Salamander can oblige you as she has listed a long, though not exhaustive list, of just such breeds biting and attacking.
Stating facts is “sputtering” to you? Hilarious, but sad for you. You are the one who has been chasing rabbits for the past 10 posts or so — and you are NOT fooling anyone here. I’d say most of the posters here on this thread are seeing right through you and your attempts to dodge the issue: an unwarranted killing of a dog by cops. You are the one who seems to think that’s not the issue. Regardless of the type or breed of dog chained — and regardless of whether or not one approves of chaining or leashing in the home (separate issue) — this man’s dog was killed and was clearly no threat. Cops entered into his home —without cause and killed his leashed dog. Clear enough for you, now????
Breaking down an innocent mans door and shooting his dog is criminal.
Unlawful government employee intrusions are an established pattern.
Whereas in the case of the owner, his reason for chaining his dog inside the house has not been established.
Odd, how you are focusing on an apparent wrong, rather than an actual wrong committed. One might suspect your goal was to minimize the latter.
Bingo, Altariel!! See post #165.
BS! Those statistics are indicative of the danger of certain types of dogs over others. How many articles are there about setters, spaniels, poodles, labs, wolfhounds, deerhounds, shepherds, beagles, Great Danes, etc., attacking, maiming and killing people.
Only if the breed was clearly and correctly identified — hence the stance that the CDC has taken. Even THEY seem to recognize that this is not happening in the vast majority of the cases.... not to mention the various factors involved: intact dog attacks versus non, dogs chained versus not, provoked attacks, etc... No way to track that — but happily for the media there are always the gullible who are willing to believe everything they dish out and accept it as Gospel truth — even here among supposed conservatives.
Obfuscation, Bronzy. Pay no attention. Some here want to make this about something other than what it was....
First you tried stating the owner was in the kitchen when the shooting occurred. That certainly wasn't a fact, was it?
You are again comparing apples to pianos, rathehr than apples to apples.
I again remind you that the case here involves the criminal actions of government employees against a an innocent veteran and his dog.
Not any other rabbit trail you clearly desire to rather dart down at the earliest opportunity.
How many articles are there about setters, spaniels, poodles, labs, wolfhounds, deerhounds, shepherds, beagles, Great Danes, etc., attacking, maiming and killing people.
What percentage of law enforcement citizen contacts are unlawful intrusions?
Enjoy this brick wall of reality.

-Every- dog is “the wolf in your living room”.
We forget that to our eternal peril.
Dogs is dogs and dogs got teeth.
Two dogs or more is a pack and will act like it.
Immutable facts.
I was born into a family with dogs.
I have obedience/protection trained Dobermanns since I was 14.
I have rescued countless Dobes from God-knows-what backgrounds, rehabbed and trained the to CDX levels and rescued Ibizan Hounds for 20 years.
I have never been bitten by a dog whether it was mine or somebody else’s, in spite of being exposed to literally thousands of them in people’s yards or junk yards.
Then you'd better never have a dog.

Irrelevant to the fact that this government-employee instigated invasion was an unlawful intrusion.
Ahh, of course. If it doesn’t support your current selective cynophobia, it must be belittled or ignored.
This is the factual result of what happens when selective cynophobists demand “something be done:

After all, we can’t have people protecting their homes with medium-to large breed dogs, now can we?
Frankly, I’m just bored with AW’s non-answer answers and agonizingly repetitive ‘stats’.
If they start quoting the dog-bite law site as “proof”, I *might* break out in laughter, though.
[although the bizarre straw man foray into another poster’s ability to pay for a kennel was amusing...in a warped, non-linear kind of way]
