Was this a Conservative district? If not, Democrats will really be sitting up and taking notice.

I hope he’s an actual conservative. Not in my area so I don’t know much about him.

Yes. This has been a GOP seat since the 1980 Reagan landslide.

It is a ‘safe’ Republican seat.

Maybe the “Show Me State” has finally regained its’ senses and come back to reality.

I suspect the fact that Obama DIDN’T VISIT JOPLIN, MO. after the tornado of last year, but visited (Photo-Opped) Newtown, Conn; New Jersey; and Oklahoma City, might have had something to do with it.

Reason why? Too many working class conservative white folk in Joplin so why bother with a non-productive (re vote getting), Photo-Op. One problem, Joplin is a well integrated city of many races and ethnic groups, and all were badly hurt during the tornado so Obie decided not to list them for federal disaster aid (I believe some came a year later, but big fucking whoop).

Missouri has given us Democratic nuts like McCaskill, the leaders of E. St. Louis (perhaps the crime capitol of the state), and a few other wackjobs, but they have also given us decent men like Dick Ichord and Stuart Symington (I think he was from MO), in the past.

Are they “Back to A Future” with this vote? Hope so, for their sake and for America’s sake.

Most sources list him as 32 years old, one of the youngest in Congress. Lawyer.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in mid MO of late and I’m afraid I’m really not hopeful about REAL conservatives in elective office around here. My take is that this is a Republican state, but not so much a conservative one. Maybe just what I’ve seen in the government-heavy Columbia/Jeff City area has clouded things, but this place never met a make-work project it didn’t like and everything here is corrupt as the day is long as far as I can see.

Makes me long for being back home in upstate SC, I can tell you that much.

I hope that we in Michigan can capture the seat of Carl Levin who is retiring in 2014. It is going to take a lot but with the current scandals and him being an IRS letter writer anything may be possible if the election is legit.
