He was an interesting character and a great singer. In his later years he became religious.
I remember reading an interesting article by him many years ago. It was about his Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle he bought when he was in the Air Force in Germany. I have no idea how to spell that rifle btw. They were actually not very expensive back then.
Like many talented people he had his personal demons but seemed to eventually overcome them.

That is an awesome stamp. I am going to load up on them and use them for the next year.

I told the wife to pick some of these up for me tomorrow. Still a Johnny Cash fan.

Remember these from Johnny? (Sorry if they duplicate any of the ones on the lists posted above.)
(Fiji Hill -- I bet that with all your extensive musical knowledge, you can tell us the history and particulars on that older first song here, "You Are My Sunshine", right?)

I am a fan of his music but it must be noted he was a Democrat. I always thought that is why he was so popular with modern day hipsters. They never much cared for country music Americana and suddenly back in the ‘90s hipsters adopted Johnny Cash. He was an icon with posters, etc. Couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it in San Francisco. It must be because he had the correct politics.

One of my favorite Colombo episodes is the one with Johnny Cash playing a Gospel singer perp. Can’t help but feel sorry for him. It is a sad turn of events when he’s eventually caught.
