Movies dont come bigger than this, and zombie flicks tend to come an awful lot smaller. In Shaun of the Dead, the undead had to content themselves with snacking off a handful of British actors in a deserted pub. Here, its the future of humanity at stake. This time, Brad Pitt is here to save us, and the skies are soon full of crashing helicopters, screaming jets and stuntpeople being sucked out of aircraft. So whats it like? Well, its awfully like all the epic action films made by Roland Emmerich, ranging from the nearly sublime (Independence Day) to the totally ridiculous (10,000 BC). Its slap-bang in the middle of that quality spectrum, round about the level of Godzilla and not quite as classy as The Day the World Ended.

I loved Shawn of the Dead.
“Well, he was awfully bitey”
Yeah, but the, “FAIL,” zombies aren’t fast until they see you. THEN they run after you.
Stealth would be a good option if you lacked overwhelming force.
It’s not as though anyone actually believes zombies are real (huge retail market for the Z-prepared notwithstanding), but this looks like the only way to get through to a callused audience.
Zombies = undead = pretty scary
Zombies being slow but persistent..scarey
Zombies much faster and absolutely requiring a head-shot-stop...scarier
Zombies proportionally running and swarming like soldier ants (a primal fear), resistant to all but complete immolation or being ‘blowed up’....much scarier
No art intended, just a movie....$$$$$ to make, but just another movie.
YMMV
Heh!
“Pete?”
“Peeete?”
“Oy! PRICK!”
“He’s not home.”
I agree, i have just gotten into reading these books, though I havent read that one... great stuff.
its a movie for petes sake!! just enjoy it!!
some of the critic recommened ones have totally sucked!!
What books, if I may ask?
Max Brooks’s books?
“Hey, I kind of liked 10,000 BC”
Me too. LOL!! I loved “Independence Day”
I saw the original Romero zombie flicks once as a kid, nightmares for months. So I am totally going to be terrified while watching this movie. It will be great! Most movie monsters just aren’t that scary anymore.
My son really liked After Earth.

Thanks for the ping!
The trailers look like the movie is very different from Max Brook’s book. And the zombies look like they’re the cheetah-fast zombies. But I still want to see it.
I see real zombies all the time. They are shuffling slowly down the street, J walking, and aimlessly wandering through parking lots. The bus stop is a popular gathering site.

Tracking!
We like to refer to them as yipsters (yuppie hipsters). They prowl the city in search of unconventional food, drink, and hooka-bars.
bizarre!

Thank you.
That’s funny. I guess I am the odd man out. But in all seriousness....if you have read Robert E Howard (the original Conan author), this movie resonated. It was sort of like his worlds.
I may go onto Rotten Tomatoes and check out the reviews. There is nothing like a scalding movie review for entertainment.....
Liked it as well. The only way to do zombie flicks is with a lot of humor.
I won’t see any movie that glorifies the UN. Sorry.
” It certainly wasnt the worst movie ever made by a long long shot. “
You mean The English Patient?
Ill watch it after I illegally download it. The film being released is the second or third version of the movie. The first version was apparently so bad the studio spent over $40mil just to make it watchable. If Braindead Brad Pitt cant buy himself a decent script writer or even follow the book, which would have made a mint because.the book’s premise is actually scarey ,then he needs to lose his ass on this(his.film company made the movie). As a zombie movie fan, wwz is an abomination.
