Word For The Day, Monday, June 3, 2013
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
effrontery; noun shameless or impudent boldness; barefaced audacity: She had the effrontery to ask for two free samples. 2. an act or instance of this.
Etymology: from French effronterie, from Old French esfront barefaced, shameless, from Late Latin effrons, literally: putting forth one's forehead; see front ]
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFBs attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
I like it the way I like vacuuming. It’s a pain to do it, but it looks nice afterward. What is wrong with your team tonight? Bring on some D!
I used to. Now I think I have PSTD.
I have a Hustler Mini Z zero turn mower, and I mow about 6 acres all summer. We've had so much rain, and it's been cold, so this is the first mowing for the "pasture" area. I didn't have a clue that this fawn was there -- no matted grass, no trail through the grass, nothing until *clunk*. My husband (who picked it up and bagged it) said it was really small. He assured me that it didn't know a thing. I'm not so sure.
Kids do a “save the date” announcement - at least in our friend circles. A fridge magnet seems to be what most of my daughter’s friends have done.
Those suits look like ice cream vendors!
so they use the engagement photo for a save the date announcement? that seems like a good idea.
No I lived in PA at the time and have never heard of that murder...how interesting to come across the clipping though!
Yes - sometimes a few of the photos in a collage - I still have fridge magnets from several young couples on my refrigerator - they remind me of their anniversaries! lol
I don’t recall that story so it must not have gotten a lot of press here - which seems odd for a fairly small town like Grapevine. We had another murder here in Southlake a couple of weeks ago that got some attention. An attorney (apparently an attorney for Mexican drug cartels who had become an informant for the FBI here in Texas) was shot multiple times getting into his car in front of one of the shops in Southlake Town Center. His wife was getting in on the other side of the car was not injured. The hitman got out of the passenger side of a SUV as it stopped by the victim, shot him at close range multiple times, then got back in the SUV as it drove off. Very quick, broad daylight, no concern about witnesses or anything.
HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is very disturbing! TX has had a very unsettling # of those kind of things.
