The more opinionated they were, the more influential and trustworthy they were perceived to be.

Seems that the people studied are far smarter than the people studying them in this case. Would not people who deserved credibility on the subject by virtue of knowing about it be more likely to be opinionated on the subject?

Yes. But real value to me comes when I get past the headline and into the article, because the study wasn't about "shouting." This is telling: The leftist headline writer thinks having an opinion is "shouting." It only seems that way to him.
