The home spread. Between working on the place, and having to spend Friday afternoon & evening in Rapid City for serious shopping & the annual dinner-meeting of our electric co-op, I just haven’t had a chance to get on here.

About 18 cow-free acres, out of 310. The Google Earth image data is 9-21-11, so some improvements/additions don’t show.

Yesterday evening, we unexpectedly had to sort through two 16 pound boxes of sweet cherries friends brought us that were going bad; then cook them to be juiced. They were given 4 boxes, and shared; about half were usable, so their chickens and ours got a royal treat. A truck refer unit failed during transport.

Today, it was using the tiller to weed the far half of the garden, plus till the paths & between the rows in the near half, plus do some more planting...bush limas, started leeks, and flowers...an coffee cans. The cans have holes in the bottom, and are between the squash plants: they get filled with water, and slowly deep-water the plants.

Last night, we had a fire in the stove all night; it got down to 38 in town and a bit lower here, though no frost. Snow was expected in portions of the higher elevations of the central or northern Black Hills.

I sure can’t find time to be on the computer every day, and you always seem to be making lots more progress than I do.

Nice looking spread you have there. Your weather is even more challenging than we have in Missouri. At least we are in the fifties this week.
