In 2010 the Dailynews estimated LAUSD (Los Angeles) spends about $12,000 a year per pupil

Nearly 25% of the kids are English learners in California
From http://www.edsource.org/sys_students.html
There are more than 6,000,000 K-12 students in California
Assuming that 25% of the kids are to foreign born parents, there are 1,500,000 kids we should not have to pay for, just in California.
K-12 students go to school for 13 years. That is a cost of $156,000 per kid to go thru school. And then of course, pension costs are not a part of that calculation, so we can safely double how much we pay for their retirement.
This is just the cost of schooling, English learners, the poor and special education needs cost more than the estimated $12,000 a year per pupil.
Then you add subsidized housing, EBT cards and healthcare.
Does anyone really believe an illegal alien is going to be a net gain when each of their kids will cost over $156,000 (or $312,000 including pensions) just to go to school?
Every child in public school costs that. So let’s at least be honest here.
Two, the average immigrant isn’t younger than the average American. Yeah, I know, what a shocker. ;)
This prof is delusional if he thinks this will solve the demographic crisis. No, no, it won’t. It will delay things, but it won’t fix things.
Three, this applies to those people NOT ALREADY IN AMERICA. Those already here aren’t going to be paying anymore taxes t han they already are. Legalizing them is going to give them access to benefits.
Four, it will have the effect of pushing down wages - but then things will change back, with there being even more people for boomer’s children to support, and without the benefit of having them here in America for all and not part of their working life.
Five, what happens when they come in, and the bill comes due and the budget still can’t get covered? What then professor? This does nothing to change the entitlement math, except delaying it for about 5-10 years. What then, smart guy?
