Every child in public school costs that. So let’s at least be honest here.
Two, the average immigrant isn’t younger than the average American. Yeah, I know, what a shocker. ;)
This prof is delusional if he thinks this will solve the demographic crisis. No, no, it won’t. It will delay things, but it won’t fix things.
Three, this applies to those people NOT ALREADY IN AMERICA. Those already here aren’t going to be paying anymore taxes t han they already are. Legalizing them is going to give them access to benefits.
Four, it will have the effect of pushing down wages - but then things will change back, with there being even more people for boomer’s children to support, and without the benefit of having them here in America for all and not part of their working life.
Five, what happens when they come in, and the bill comes due and the budget still can’t get covered? What then professor? This does nothing to change the entitlement math, except delaying it for about 5-10 years. What then, smart guy?
I live here in LA. Citizens pay taxes, Most illegals dont. Also, that $156,000 is the average, we pay more for English learners, and kids with learning disabilities. Our classrooms have what they call shadow people. These are people that stand over a child because the kid has a learning disability and I doubt that that is computed as a school cost.
At the start of every school year, the schools harass me to enroll my kid into their year round free breakfast, lunch and dinners and subsidized healthcare. When I tell them I make too much money, they tell me that income isnt verified.
