FULL TITLE: Shock as 16-year-old confesses to stabbing classmate who was missing for two months 'just because she didn't like her anymore'

Emerging details of a 16-year-old's murder confession, who claimed she acted out a preplanned stabbing last summer, have shaken a small West Virginia community.

On May 1, Rachel Shoaf, of Morgantown, pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of Skylar Neese and she awaits sentencing in a juvenile detention center. Another unnamed girl is also facing charges.

Now, a newly released transcript of a secret plea hearing reveals that Shoaf said she and the second girl carried out a plan to kill Neese.

Court documents offer no insight into the motive for the crime. On May 1, Skylar's father said the only reason he could think of was that they 'didn't like her any more.'

WDTV reported that Dave Neese stated: 'They didn't like her anymore. That's the only response I got.

'I want a reason, I want some kind of reason (for this to) happen. There is no reason I don't care if you have the best reason in the world, but there's no reason (for this to happen).'

Brenda Ann Spencer shot a bunch of kids at a Calif. elementary school in 1979. Her reason: “I don’t like Mondays”. She also noted that she had been gay since birth. I’m just sayin’

Pretty vacant-faced white girl, from a family with some decency.

“Feral Urban Animal” is not a description of race. It is a description of endemic soulessness in a dangerously large part of our “youth.”

Morgantown is not very urban, with a population of around 30,000, and the murderer isn’t feral - she appears to have been raised by a family with notions of responsibility.

In Matthew 24, it’s another sign of the times when people’s love for one another will “wax cold”.

She is feral and an animal to do such a thing. Will concede urban.

“...but there's no reason...”

Adolescents' brains aren't fully formed enough to have a “reason” to do something. A researcher/lecturer was saying “You know when you ask your kid why they did that, and they mumble ‘I don't know’? Well - they REALLY DON'T KNOW.”

But the consequences of our Godless society is that the very basic moral guidelines that are ingrained in one’s brain to offset at least some of our stupid actions aren't there. Or if they are there, they aren't reinforced by our culture. I did a lot of stupid things as a teen, and thought of a whole bunch more. But that thought of going to Hell stopped me from some of them.

Feral has nothing to do with skin color, it has everything to do with culture.

This is a heartbreaking story that deeply shocked my community. Both the girls who apparently perpetrated the killing and the victim attended my son’s high school. The victim, Skylar Neese, disappeared last July after sneaking out of the house in the late evening supposedly to attend a party with friends. The authorities and most of the community presumed that she was a runaway, and there were searches and missing person’s posters around the community for several months.

A few months ago, it was announced that the girls body was found in Pennsylvania. A few weeks ago, the rest of the story began to emerge when it was announced that her former friend, Rachel Shoaf, had pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder.

Evidently, Shoaf and another girl (whose name is known in the community but has not yet been named in newspapers because her case has not yet been transferred from juvenile to adult court) lured Neese out of her home on the evening she disappeared, and then stabbed her to death and hid her body. The pre-planned nature of the attack and the fact that they were able to conceal the crime for over half a year was especially shocking to the community.

Shoaf seems to have gotten a favorable plea deal (2nd degree murder) because the Prosecutor felt her confession and testimony was needed to assure conviction. The second as yet unnamed girl will likely be charged with 1st degree murder when her case is transferred to adult court.

The community is a relatively affluent area within the state, so I would not characterize this as an ‘urban’ crime. The kids involved may not have come from perfect home situations but they appeared to have some parental involvement and church involvement. The motive appears to have included jealousy over a situation with a boy. Drugs may have also clouded the moral faculties of the killers. Sometimes people just make evil choices.

Overall, a very tragic situation. I pray for all involved but especially the parents and family of Skylar Neese.

This strange stuff has been going on for a long time. I grew up on a quite street in Illinois. One kid killed his family and the dog so he could have a place to party. Another neighbor called all the kids outside to see something. He pored gasoline on himself and lit the match. I was there. There was more...it was like a Steven King novel and this was back in the 70’s. Drug overdoses ....stabbings...it was almost normal.

“Feral has nothing to do with skin color, it has everything to do with culture.”

It’s the culture folks. Believe anything else and you will wake up one day to find you kids where the hip hop group is. Islam is the clearest example where a culture is adopted by multiple races with equally disastrous results.

This researcher/lecturer is stupid and/or has no children.

From birth, humans begin manipulating their environment and the people around them in order to get what they want.

Also, one of the first and most relentless questions which children ask is “Why”.

There is absolutely no way that an adolescent’s brain is not formed well enough to understand the reason why he or she does things.

I remember hearing about this on the news. I can’t believe it was a classmate. I know this area of Morgantown. My aunt used to live in Morgantown when she went WVU and I would stay with her when my parents went to their football games. (I’m a Marshall fan, so sue me) I used to love to ride the PRT, no other town in WV has something like that not even Charleston! So don’t anyone think Morgantown is a hick town because it is by no means not. I just can’t understand the actions of this little girl.

You can “not like” someone without stabbing them, you know?

Geez, what are they teaching these days?
