My hometown is also Corpus Christi. In fact, I live here still. I would like to move somewhere nice and cold, though. I think we only had “winter” for about a week this year. Got down to around 50, felt really nice. Now it’s hot and humid again.

I’LL BUY YOUR HOUSE!! Yesterday was 49 degrees, 100 mph an hour winds and dark, dreary and plain Muslim like. (You close to a boat?)

I feel your pain. ;-)

Hurts, just thinking about sometimes trying to sleep without air conditioning during the early '60s in C.C. (turning the pillow over and over to lay on a cooler spot). And it's a wonder those invincible giant roaches didn't carry us all away (not to mention diamondbacks, little green worms that sting, super-aggressive yellow jackets, men o' war in the surf and all).

You might like southern Colorado, maybe somewhere not on the Range. I'm more north and at a high elevation. The weather up here (about 9,200 feet) is unearthly and deadly (winds up to over 100 mph in winter with ice spraying from the nearby peaks, temps way below zero). There are bears and mountain lions (gobs of mountain lions around my place). They've never come close in daylight, though.

At roughly 7,000 feet or lower, anything from about the latitude of Denver to the south is nice. Look for one of the freer counties, though. Most counties have too many crazy commie regulations.

If you really want to try a cold place, Wyoming would be worth a look. If I had it to do again, I'd look up there for sure (more freedom in some areas). Researching local water wells, taxes and regulations would still be necessary.
