Have you seen Videodrome?
Well, so much for sleep’n tonight.
I once found myself in a crazy beerhaus in the middle of Vienna...two guys behind the bar were playing, one on a keyboard and the other with a guitar. They played the entire soundtrack from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. That place was rocking...everyone knew all the words to the songs. People were hanging off the balcony, screaming the lyrics. It was just insanely fun.
For more than a year, I worked as an usher and concession stand worker in a movie theater that showed the Rocky Horror Picture Show every Friday and Saturday night at midnight. That was either my senior year in high school or my freshman year in junior college; 1977 or 1978.
For years afterward, I could still remember the dialogue and lyrics word-for-word from that whole show. I knew all the audience participation parts and could do THE TIME WARP with the best of them.
Talk about a great job for a young guy trying to meet women...
A Texas friend and I stumbled across it in Ocean Beach, California (in between bars), we followed the girls and weirdos in and after unsuccessfully trying to pick up the two lesbians next to us, we left before it ended.
After a few weeks the music was still with me and I decided to check out the movie again, I got hooked after then.
He's just a little brought down because when you knocked......
“Great movie, he should have gotten the Academy Award for best actor.”
Although I know that many freepers probably hate (or would hate) this movie, Curry’s entrance in that flick is one of the best in all cinema.
Get well soon Tim Curry!
A great actor and singer, get well soon Mr. Curry.
agreed, and liked the show a lot!!

Tim Curry has provided us with incredible entertainment for a long time; hope he continues for a long time to come. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I will know the world has truly gone to pot when they start doing midnight showings of Videdrome with audience participation....
Loved him as the Cardinal in the Kiefer Southherland/Charlie Sheen “Three Musketeers.”
Mark
Brilliant actor! Consummate professional. Every movement, every expression, every “bit of business” was perfect. On Criminal Minds, he was, without a doubt, the creepiest villain I have ever seen!! Get well quickly, Tim!
Reading this thread I’d swear I was on DU.
WTF, FReepers supporting debauchery and homos now???
Sick.
Thankfully, I never saw the Rocky Horror etc movie. I really didn’t know much about it other than that it involved perverts. Just now I read about it on wikipedia, and it sounds utterly revolting and how people can find jolly humor in it I have no idea.
But, considering the threads about the 18 year old female sex pervert getting arrested for being perverted with a 14 year old girl, I’d say FR has a lot of people who support perversion and immorality as innocent good fun. Thankfully two got zotted but those threads attracted such supporters like moths to a flame.
Trust me, it's a sanitized synopsis.
The movie is pure filth.
Yup.
I suppose this means the guy is a great actor, since he was so believable in so many strange roles.
I think of RHPS as officially the worst movie in history. It’s so bad, it’s still playing in theaters (longest run in movie history by far) 30 years later. Like watching “Reefer Madness” or Mystery Science Theatre, people watch the show because it is so incredibly bad.
