The laws of Canada are of no concern for determining the citizenship of the United States. Only US laws apply.

Neither of Marco Rubio’s parents were US citizens at the time of his birth. Did I miss your thread about that? Mrs. Obama was not old enough to transfer her citizenship to her son and the father was a Kenyan. Did I miss your thread about that? John McCain was born in Panama, not the Canal Zone as many think and etc, etc...

When I first heard of this, it occurred to me that this is probably being pushed by the far-left. Once they have established a ‘precedent’ with Cruz, they can put up anyone they want for President.

Ha ha ha...

So you think Ted Cruz doesn’t know he’s a citizen of Canada, huh? And you’re gonna tell him.

You think he’s gotten this far in life, brilliantly in every way, but needs you to tell him what country he’s a citizen of??

Hate to break it to you but......ummm......no.

Personally I don’t care if he’s from Neptune. He’s only one of several that has the guts and determination to get us back to a republic.

Ted Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen of North America, but not of any single nation.

Natural Born Citizenship is what you have when parents and child are all citizens of the same nation when and where the child is born.

NBC is the most pure, undiluted form of citizenship, with no competing citizenship claims for or by that child due to the circumstances of his/her birth.

While he is not an NBC of the US, there are other classes of citizenship that apply to Ted Cruz and I am grateful that he is an American citizen who chose to serve us all in the Senate instead of serving only the special interests of a political party or their destructive ideology.

In our argumments about "natural born citizens" in 2008 we pretty much coalesced a consensus that would exclude Ted Cruze, Bobby Jindal, and Marco Rubio. Most exempted John McCain because he was running for president as a Republican. I would include him also. Truth be told, all our stars except Sarah Palin are no-gos if we would be consistent. What the consensus on FR now seems to be is that a real conservative Republican is a Natural Born Citizen, regardless of the circumstances of his birth. The wording of the clause in the Constitution is ambiguous and would imply that an Act of Congress could define what is a Natural Born Citizen.

Unfortunately there is now a fait accompli that negates the NBC clause altogether. That will become official at some point when a British and Indonesian citizen is explicitly recognized as being or having been President of the United States.

Great info! Cruz is not a natural born citizen of USA, both parents required to be USA citizens when Cruz was born. Regardless that Cruz was born in Canada, given that his father was a legal immigrant to Canada (corrections welcome), I wouldn’t be surprised if Cruz is not a natural born citizen in either Canada or Cuba, but a Cuban citizen.

Is Ted Cruz a Natural Born Citizen... of Canada?

*************

Why ..... has Cruz indicated his intent to run for some elective office in Canada. If not why the interest? Is this a favorite topic of yours?

Thanks for the Post Kaslin. The way I see it.

The final debauching of America required a test of one of its most fundamental principles. America has proven that on the whole, it no longer comprehends or values any of its initial charter. The constitution is defacto null and void. The elected government and its media enablers are a criminal enterprise. The laws passed in the last several years are but ambiguous vehicles for selective enforcement in support of its crony capitalism or fodder for Madoff style investment scams. November’s election was a good start and America is still in a precariously weakened state however time is running out for them and they are getting desperate. We need to get our buckets ready and prepare to put out the next Reichstag fire.

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves. “ Winston Churchill

Since we have a Kenyan born president we should push this Cruz guy to run for president as a diversion as watch the press get their panties in a wad over it. Then we can remind them of how unimportant it was when the birth of their guy came into question.

Ted Cruz has been a US Senator for five minutes.

Only 3 sitting US Senators have ever been elected President and all 3 sucked.

I’d look elsewhere.

If Canada possesses legitimate legal jurisdiction over Ted Cruz, then there’s no way he’s eligible. That’s a big “if.”

Why anyone believes that this country would have ever given another country jurisdiction over our affairs via legal power over the President and Commander-in-Chief of the entire US military is beyond me. It would have been a nightmare and still would be.

The People would be at the mercy of an unelected third party with access to the military, veto power, Executive Order... it’s just wrong on so many levels. And dangerous. Such an individual would be disinterested at best in the good of the nation.

Come to think of it, isn’t this exactly what we’re seeing and experiencing right now?
