Vision, if I'd have known what an investment this new house was, I'd have opted for a three-room shack in the hills somewhere. We've already had the contractors put in a new chimney for the kitchen wood stove, remodel my bathroom here in the Viking's Den, run new plumbing all over the place, rewire several rooms, and they'll be back next week to paint all the exterior wood. And I don't even want to detail the pool - the new pump alone set me back $300, and it'll be another $2,000 for them to complete the guts of the pool itself. (Never seen one with a 4' shallow end and a 12' deep end. It's an in-ground lagoon.) We buy the materials - their labor is paid for by the 203k escrow, so it's that much less I have to do myself. But we'll never get though the laundry list of everything we want to do in one season. It'll be a small kingdom unto itself when it's done, but I may not be coherent enough to enjoy it when it's complete. LOL I'm going to need a long vacation in a rest home if I can plow through all of this. Plus, we have coyotes now. And they sit just beyond the scope of the floodlights in back at night, and howl at 2 AM. A month ago, I was worried about completing the garden fence to keep the deer out of the garden after we till it. Now I keep the 12 gauge loaded and the cats away from the windows after dark.
That is a nice radio. I'd truly love to get an old floor console unit of just about any make or model, and make a restoration project of it. Granted, this one is of more recent vintage:
But, she found it for $20 at an antiques mall (we frequent this place for a lot of higher-end treasure), so I can't complain. It's of my Dad's era, when he was fully an AM radio broadcaster. He'd have been 80 next spring, and would have loved to see this in his den.

The main thing to do in these old tube radios, is to replace all the electrolytic capacitors.
