SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- A coyote pup is on the mend after suffering an unpleasant encounter with a cholla cactus this week.
Sun City West resident Gwen Maxwell said she went for a walk Tuesday morning when she saw what she thought was a small puppy across the street.
Maxwell said the animal crawled under some bushes, and eventually disappeared.
A little while later, Maxwell walked around the side of her home and saw the coyote pup in her backyard covered in cholla cactus.
After speaking with a neighbor about the animal, Maxwell watched the pup from her window while waiting for help to arrive.
Maxwell said the pups mother also made its way to her home.

Are barrel cactus different from cholla?? Yes...the nickname for the cholla is “jumping cactus” because of the way those spiny clusters so easily detach from the plant and attach to you or your pets.
I hate to see an animal in pain too.
Yes he’s very cute. Most baby mammals are. Yes I understand when he grows up he could and would eat my kitty.
But the poor thing looked so sad and itchy, I’m glad it had a happy ending.
My heart is too big when it comes to baby animals, whether they be human or critter. I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing.
at least,I know Jr won’t be going near any more cacti
I expected the usual—and I do mean usual with a capital U—Freeper comments that coyotes serve but one purpose: targets for them. And I got them.
Tiresome, really, really tiresome.
So then we end up with super coyote? Hmmmm? perhaps then form the coyote brigade of trained super coyotes who only hunt progressive communist, left leaning big government, environuts of the socialist persuasion who are slow and stupid? The comparison is equally if not more scary.
Brings up the prepper dilemma.

My MIl's little dog got tangled with one when they were at a rest stop on their way to visit us a few months ago. Luckily, as in this story, there were some helpful people around to help her out.
People that have cats or other small animals that live in coyote country are fools for letting them run around outside. In Arizona, coyotes were here long before us and they have an important niche in keeping down the population of critters even more undesirable than themselves.
In a few months that pup will be back for Muffy.
I’m with y’all. Seeing that little pup covered in stickers would have broken my heart. God cares very much for his little creations.
thank you

I don’t know, but I’d sure hate to run into whatever made perching on a cactus the better option!
Owie! I hope doggie remembers the lesson for next time he meets B’rer Porky.
