After Tiger Woods won his second Players Championship on Sunday and Sergio Garcia claimed he had been the "victim" in his flap with Woods over the weekend, a Players marshal revealed that Woods's account of what happened on the second hole in the third round when he was paired with Garcia was not true and said the world's top-ranked golfer lacked character.
In the rain-shortened third round of The Players Championship last weekend, Garcia was frustrated that he hit a poor approach shot on the second hole and blamed it on the commotion Woods caused when he pulled a five-wood out of his bag before Garcia finished hitting his shot. Woods claimed the marshals told him Garcia had already hit his ball.
According to Sports Illustrated, "the marshals were surprised" by Woods's comments.
Gary Anderson, one of the marshals, told Sports Illustrated, He didnt ask us nothing, and we didnt say nothing. Were told not to talk to the players.
John North, "the chief marshal for the first three holes" who "stood over Woodss ball to protect it from the throng and was five feet away when Woods played his shot," also said the marshals did not say anything to Woods.
Nothing was said to us and we certainly said nothing to him, North said. I was disappointed to hear him make those remarks. Were there to help the players and enhance the experience of the fans. He was saying what was good for him. It lacked character.
According to Sports Illustrated, North is a graduate of the Naval Academy, served in Vietnam, and is a FedEx pilot who "donates his round on the Stadium course for being a volunteer to the Wounded Warriors project."

Yeah, well the hookers & other ladies he committed adultery with should have lit that bulb for ya.
I think it was well established some time ago that Tiger Woods lacked character.
Seriously. Compared to that, pulling a club early is a little lame.
That’s it exactly...a lack of character.
It’s unfortunate that so many are willing to overlook his many shortfalls because of his golfing skills.
The two marshals will now be in charge of the Aleutian Islands Open
He still has more character than 95% of the NBA and NFL. (Though that isn’t saying much)
a Players marshal revealed that Woods’s account of what happened on the second hole in the third round when he was paired with Garcia was not true and said the world’s top-ranked golfer lacked character.
You’d have look way back in Tiger’s genealogy to find someone with character.
It wasn’t so much the club pulling that was/is the issue. Like so many other ‘acts’, it’s usually the lies and cover-ups that follow that reveal ‘character’.
“.....Sergio Garcia claimed he had been the “victim” in his flap with Woods over the weekend.....”

Oh puhleeeze....everybody wants to be a “victim”. Garcia lost and makes excuses...hell, maybe next time he’ll hear a frog croak.
Sometimes you just lose. Sometimes you just don’t make the shot you wanted to make.
Are you saying that his father being a US Army Lieutenant Colonel Vietnam combat vet and a Green Beret isn’t evidence of character?
NO, tell me it isn't true! I guess that's why he hangs around with the turd in the white house.
And Sergio is a whiny ass prick too. Loved seeing him Tin Cup it on 17 and 18 Sunday. I don’t care for Tiger as a person (everyone has long known he’s an ass) but I cannot stand Sergio.
U.S. Defence Secretary Robert McNamara had decided that U.S. soldiers should have limitless access to sex in order to ease the horrors of war. Brothels were established in Bangkok with Thai entrepreneurs paid by U.S. officials.
Dubbed I & I breaks - intercourse and intoxication - Woods job was to ensure the soldiers had a good time. Despite his officer status, he found it difficult to resist temptation.
Indeed, he found a Thai girl of his own - despite the fact he had a wife, Barbara, back home.
Apparently those things aren’t an indication of character.
LMAO! And while being audited by the IRS.
” And Sergio is a whiny ass prick too. “
Yep. Neither of em will win award for character.
While I cannot remember where I read it-as I am not a sports enthusiast-I did read that Garcia did NOT blame it on Woods-he was very gentlemanly about the whole thing and pretty much summed it up as ‘these things happen’...
I read the crowd gasped when there was movement etc during Garcia’s swing as they were so shocked at the breach in golf protocol (which I know zip about)- but I definitely read otherwise-and Wood’s immediately blamed it on the marshall- this article was written before Woods winning—so just fyi- I read a much different version after it immediately happened.
People wanted Garcia to be pissed, but he shrugged it off and accepted it and the controversial ruling that had also been made in Woods favor -may have been in the Mail Online (UK) or Yahoo-
Just interesting that it is being spun a bit differently now...
Garcia really comes off bad in this incident. Whining about somebody pulling a club too early——especially when that someone is Tiger Woods-—makes him sound like a whiny, little milquetoast. Plus his severe choking on the last holes didn’t help his reputation much either.
