I am getting to go on a weeklong road trip down the east coast where I plan to cut across the Blue Ridge parkway and drive west.
I don't have a destination or a plan, I want to spend some time in a part of the country I really haven't seen. I thought I might go through some rural areas where I could just pull off a road somewhere and plink some cans with a wristrocket if it was a nice day and I felt like getting out of the car.
Then it occurred to me that I don't know anything about any laws regarding slingshots. Looking on the Internet posed the usual problem looking for data, separating the wheat from the chaff.
Does any Freeper have any knowledge of any such laws in their area?
I had heard of those...I’ll bet there were people who got pretty good with that thing...
And above all, is it considered an assault weapon (aka AK-47 Slingshot)?
Nah. More like a “Glock.”
LOL...I think I was Dennis the Menace without the charm and the guile.
You can see how, with practice, it could indeed become a survival tool. I would hate to have to learn how to do it under the stress of having to get food to survive.
No pressure...:)
Hitting a twitching little goober 10 meters away requires practice. Lots of it.

You should try an atlatl.
I enjoy using a blowgun too. The modern ones are “super” accurate. I cleared out a lighthouse once of rats using one.
I live in Massachusetts...
You’re kidding, right? ISTR they are illegal in Mass. If I actually had a wrist rocket, I’d have to drive up to NH to buy new ruber for it. Which I don’t. Really.
If I remember the story correctly, “slingshots” are illegal in NJ — wait for it — here it comes — by mistake. Seems the NJ legislature had a bill to outlaw “slungshots” (look it up, they’re NASTY) and an overzealous aide “corrected” the “misprinted” word before the final signing. Dunno if it’s true, but it is a dam good story...
Crossbows too, in N.J.
