I agree.
A crime that Donner’s original versions never made it to the theaters...
The next year, we got another guy who looked just like Christopher Reeve, so of course we called him Superman II.
That year we did a show in the first Superman's hometown, and he came by to say Hi. We immediately grabbed him and took him over, and introduced Superman to Superman II. Talk about Doppelgangers, they could have been brothers.
Nothing to do with this thread, just a cool story. And Hans Zimmer's good to go.
Sarah Douglas was hot!!
Kneel before Zod!
Ah memories.
The latest rumor is Superman's origin story has been altered so Krypton was NOT destroyed, and he was merely sent to Earth because he was born naturally on Krypton instead of being genetically engineered, so he was an outcast among his people.
Apparently the creative team behind this movie thinks if you rehash the SAME plot and villains that have been done a zillion times before, BUT alter elements of it that worked great the first time around, you can sell the lame rehashed plot as a "fresh take" on the character. Thus, Perry White is now played by Lawrence Fishburne, Jimmy Olsen is now a female "Jenna Olsen", etc., all these ridiculous alterations are supposed to draw us to a movie that is needlessly recycling a storyline that was already done perfectly in Superman I & II.
Definitely won't be seeing Man of Steel now. I wonder what bad news will come out about this film next?
I'll all for a "fresh take" on Superman... keeping the iconic stuff like the John Williams score but giving us a NEW challenge for Superman and NEW foes to face. Unfortunately these guys are doing the OPPOSITE of that.
