They’re not taught to disrespect anybody. Its a costume. Your remarkable oversensitivity notwithstanding.

It’s a very rough time of life. I have been (so far) one of the lucky ones.
I talked to an old friend this morning who lost her leg several months ago (diabetes), and is going through a very rough rehab process. She was an incredible skier but will manage. We may be old,but we’re tough.
One of my pet peeves though,is when an 18 year old clerk or waitress calls me “dear”. :-)
