Tim Tebow has been waived by the Jets, the end of an unsuccessful one-season experiment in New York.
Coach Rex Ryan said in a statement put out by the team in announcing the move Monday morning: "Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped."

If their job was ‘to win’ (which they didn’t), then they should have played Tebow.
They chose NOT to play Tebow.
They chose to stay with Mark (interception city) Sanchez.
and to go with Greg McElroy instead.
Tebow had led the Bronco’s to a great season the year before and won a playoff game for them.
He was NOT given that opportunity by the Jets.
A lousy QB who turned around an 0-4 team, has a winning record and a big playoff win. He's probably the best lousy QB in history.
The circus that is the NY Jets has added another tent to the show. Drafting QB Smith added to the on-going show, and the NY media will eat him alive before it’s over. Ryan and Mark “Butt Fumble” Sanchez remain in the center ring. What a mess, but fun to watch I guess if you are not a Jets fan.
Tebow may not be the greatest QB to ever grace the Meadowlands, but who will ever know since he didn’t get a chance. The Jets did him wrong, but IMO he should have seen the handwriting on the wall. Who really did him wrong were the Broncos and Elway. What goes around comes around. Good luck Tim, choose a better place.
As I recall, the Jags owner has said that they aren’t interested in him.
He might be the only lousy quarterback to have won the Heisman Trophy.
The same coaches that brought him in saw him in practice every day. They chose not to play him based on that. Opportunity is not always given in the NFL. It’s often earned.
His release is a shame. I was hoping he could become a great Pro quarterback.
Gino Torretta springs to mind... :)
“He might be the only lousy quarterback to have won the Heisman Trophy.”
You’re kidding, right? NFL draft history is full of Heisman winning quarterbacks who never panned out at the NFL level.
He was accused of asking to be taken out the Jests wildcat formation, which he denies.
QBs and formations come in all stripes. I am not sure if I like the Wildcat formation, but football has sure changed a lot since I was a kid.
I remember when Vick rushed for about 1000 yards one year. It was very exciting.
It may be that Tebow just doesn't fit into the NFL in a more traditional model, but he is a strong and excellent athlete. There will be a fit for him somewhere, and I think he'll excel when the right team takes a chance on him and stays with him.
I'd love to see him repeatedly burn the Broncos and Jets, as long as he loses to my Falcons.
And Danny Wuerffel.
Paul Hornung
Bingo
In the old days they used to have QB competitions in the off season. I would like to watch Tebow go head to head with either of the spoiled Manning brats, bugger placing Sanchez or any of the overpraised rookie QB’s.
Yes, I know that. We’ll just have to wait and see.
yeah so that was an understatement IMO ...
I might be a bit biased...
He might be the only lousy quarterback to have won the Heisman Trophy.

There is so much information available on the interweb, it just makes sense to view it before you step in it.
Here’s your list of Heisman Trophy Winning QBs since 1990.
Ty Detmer (25 starts in 14 seasons)
Gino Torretta (got into a grand total of 1 game)
Charlie Ward (played in the NBA instead)
Danny Wuerffel (biggest football moment came in NFL Europe)
Chris Weinke (Trent Dilfer’s backup)
Eric Crouch (not drafted as a qb)
Carson Palmer (ok, a decent career until he held out)
Jason White (not drafted)
matt Leinart
Tim Tebow
Sam Bradford
Cam Newton
Robert Griffin
Jahhny Manziel
A heisman trophy seems to be more of a curse to qbs than anything else.

The Raiders should pick him up - he’d be just like Kenny Stabler! (SEC, scraggly beard, left handed, scrambler, wobbly passes... B^)
Some folks are just prone to spewing venom without thinking.
