Manti Te'o Falls Out Of The First Round Of The NFL Draft

In a mild surprise, Manti Te'o wasn't picked in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Most experts had him going between 20th and 32nd, with the Minnesota Vikings as the heavy favorite to pick him at in the mid-20s.
But Minnesota passed on him with both of their first round picks. Then, to add insult to injury, they traded up for an THIRD first round pick and drafted wide receive Cordarrelle Patterson instead of Te'o.
It's not like this is a catastrophic fall for Te'o. He was projected to go in the mid-20s, and he'll probably go in the mid-30s tomorrow night instead..
But the Vikings thing should give everyone pause.
This was the one team that was reportedly in love with Te'o. They had three chances to pick him, and they passed.

So glad he didn’t get the Heisman! I can’t believe he was really in the running. Others should have been in the finals.

I try to avoid sports radio but every so often will tune into it and when I do it is a rare exception. yesterday, on ESPN radio, I heard a squeamish host say “Maybe I am naive .... but.... “ He then asked a co-host/guest whether Geno Smith was the victim of racism. Poor guy, I hope he overcomes the injustice.
He had a non-existent championship game but most of that was because of the fake girlfriend hoax he was ensnared in. Didn’t Tom Brady go in the 6th round ??

He didn't get the press like Te'o and was overshadowed on his own team by another Heisman candidate but Arthur Brown of Kansas State is a much better LB than Te'o.

FWIW, here's my theory..there has been much rumor/speculation about one or more current NFL players coming out as gay this season. When the whole Te'o fake girlfriend broke, there was a lot of talk that he was gay..and that they story was concocted by Te'o, to make himself more palatable to the NFL..I think the guy's gay, the teams discovered it...and coupled with the earlier fiasco, they don't want to waste a pic on him..
The NFL Draft is a vastly overhyped event overhyped by the master of overhype, ESPN. A tribute to the power of marketing.

The title game meltdown was a team meltdwon, not just Te’o.
I watched him play for a few years here in South Bend ( I am a Mizzou fan by the way ) and he is a very good player overall but his intensity and instincts are definitely above average.
Pete Rose wasn’t a naturally “great” baseball player, but he was intense, hustled and worked hard to be a gamer, and became one of the great players of all time.
You can have all the talent and speed in the world but if you don`t know how to think and read the game it doesn`t do you any good....
