SALT LAKE CITY, - A Salt Lake City woman being assaulted by a co-worker was rescued by a group of neighbors, including one wielding a sword.
Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the 35-year-old woman was leaving her home just after 7 a.m. Tuesday when she was attacked by a 38-year-old man against whom she had obtained a stalking injunction after they ceased to be co-workers, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday.
Hoyal said the man chased the woman down the street and she attempted to use pepper spray against him but failed.
Police said numerous neighbors came to help the woman, including a man wielding a sword.
Kent Hendrix, 47, a fourth-degree black belt in the martial arts known as Kishindo, said his son woke him and told him a woman was being attacked outside their home.
"I threw on some clothes and grabbed my sword," he said.
Hendrix chased the man and was able to take down the man's license plate number.
“Police said numerous neighbors came to help..”
Good. That’s the way people should react.
In the liberal enclaves they just turn the tv volume up.
That stalker was lucky he’s still alive. The guy didn’t need the sword, his hands and feet would have been enough. Thank God for men like this!
I have 2 80 year old neighbors, best they could do is throw their walkers and false teeth at an attacker, bless their hearts.
US Mormon bishop with Samurai sword runs off attacker
Good to see people helping each other out.
BILL: I know this is a ridiculous question before I ask, but you by any chance havent kept up with your swordplay?
BUDD: Hell, I pawned that years ago.
BILL: You pawned a Hattori Hanzo sword?
BUDD: Yep.
BILL: It was priceless.
BUDD: Not in El Paso it aint. In El Pso I got me 250 Dollars for it.
I have always had an innate fear of edged weapons, especially swords, axes, tomahawks, and machetes. At least I fear them in someone else’s hands.
That may be part of why I like them so much.
Sounds like an episode of Vikings. LOL
I have a sword very similar to that one tho it is probably of much lower quality. Many years ago I was dorm host at a Summer retreat. There were roughly 400 college students on the Summer staff.
One day a guy just ups and leaves with no explanation. When I checked his room for linens etc. I noticed he had left a copy of a Japanese sword in his room.
I wrote him and told him I would mail it to him if he wanted it but he said to just keep it.
I got to looking it over and decided the handle was attached only to a prong and that seemed too flimsy. I cut of the little snub and tossed the handle away. I had two small slabs of some hardwood, I think it was hickory.
Anyway I dressed down the steel of the blade and with maybe an inch of the old handle made it look pretty good.
when I cut two holes in what was to become the handle I marked where the holes took two holes and dragged the bolts through the wood and blade. I tightened the nuts and kept them strong with Gorilla flue That glue sunk into any crcks and holes which wuold hold it.
I noted while drilling the holes for the handle that the metal had a lot of temper and was difficult to drill throudh.
All in all it made a perfectly good usable sword. I added two sided tape to the handle and it looks bad but gives a fine grip.
Before putting Putting the tape on, I sanded the wood handles and put Gorilla glue in the parts that had any gap.
When I was finished it looked good and I did a bit of trial cutting and it did just fine. I now have a perfectly good sword.
He’s a Mormon Bishop and I am very proud of him!!
I have my USMC NCO sword standing in the corner near the front door. The scabbard makes a fine weapon all by itself.
Full tang, Damascus steel. Sweet.
Good job Mormon.
