Today is being celebrated by modern pagans as “Earth Day.” It is a date set aside to worship the earth (paganism). Today is also the birthday of Vladimir Lenin, (April 22nd 1870). Lenin was a Russian Marxist revolutionary, author, lawyer, economic theorist, and political philosopher among other things. Lenin created the Soviet Communist Party.

Today is also the 19th anniversary of the death of Richard Nixon.

If Obama had his druthers, would Lenin's birthday be a federal holiday? Or would he go for someone else--Che? Mao? Stalin? Beria? Karl Marx? Malcolm X?

I have one of these envirohippies across the street. He has just spent tens of thousands of dollars having solar panels installed on the front of his roof. I walked over and he was all proud and asked when I was going to install mine to help conserve energy. I said “dude, I’m not into conserving energy, I’m into using it, hell sometimes when I get home from work I’ll leave my truck running in the driveway and go inside and watch TV for an hour”. The look on his face was priceless. lol

The genetic fallacy is what it is called when you attempt to discredit an idea based upon where it originated from instead of what the idea itself is actually about. It is, as the title indicates, fallacious. Doubly so if the origin you’re using to discredit is tenuous at best.

Attempting to draw associations between earth day and either pagans or communists is more than a little silly. Because the stated intent, the reason most people celebrate the holiday, is to bring to mind the fact that we humans have a massive impact on our environment, and thus have a certain responsibility if we want to keep it. While I’m absolutely certain that there *are* pagans who celebrate earth day in a more spiritual sense, for most people it’s just a reminder to recycle, turn off the lights when they leave the room, and maybe plant a tree.

If you’re going to attack the average earth day celebrant on the grounds that it’s pagan, then you can attack the average Christian for celebrating Christmas, which draws heavily on pagan backgrounds. Where do you think decorating a tree and hanging mistletoe came from?

Honestly, what’s to gain from trying to decry a holiday who’s stated purpose is to try and make the world more hospitable? There are nutty environmentalists out there, sure, but what are we trying to do here, stop people from planting trees?

In honor of earth day, I am going to take the long way home in my gas-guzzling Mustang. After getting home, I think I will burn an old tire.

I didn’t think about it being Earth day but I was burning brush too. Mostly briars and green willow.

"Generally Marxists are more sympathetic to Trotsky..."

But Trotsky complied the Lenin's plan and even better, was a fool and crybaby refusing to take on Stalin (At the behest of Lenin).

So Marxists are convoluted, hypocritical, namby-pambies, and liars to boot (Stalin was every bit a Marxists in theory and in pursuit).

For those who hide behind the "Stalin was not a true Marxists" he sure as hell applied Dialectical/Historical Materialism into the boundaries of the real world. In essence, Stalinism is an materialistic real world application of Marxism. Tis easy to philosophize but hell to implement.

I say Stalin is exactly what Marxism was about in it’s true sense.

One can look at Marx’s criticisms of the Paris Commune in 1871, basically he said it failed because they weren’t harsh enough towards their enemies, he basically said all opposition to the revolution was to be annihilated. Stalin and all the Bolsheviks took this lesson to heart, as well.

And it’s interesting to note, that Bill Ayres said the same thing about what would have to happen if folks like the Weathermen ever won power, they would do the same exact thing, annihilate millions of Americans to see their revolution through.

Very true.

Those who pursue Marxism on peaceful plains are ideologically insane, (But they are taught to hate ideology which is convoluted as you can be) but those in power who wish to implement Marxism find that implementation requires a lot of extermination to even smell the border of the oasis called "Utopia".

Classy. Do you have an argument, or are you just annoyed that you can’t think of anything worthwhile to say?

Come on now, have some self-respect. You’re better than that.

I can think of plenty to say. Did you really think you would get off scott free by posting pro-earth day propaganda on FR? Earth Day is a leftist’s wet dream and will never be celebrated on FR.
