Why?
Why not? We shouldn’t be afraid of having a discussion on immigration even if we disagree on how the issue should be handled. Neither should Ruch. Rubio was on Mark Leving last night and I had no problem listening to the discussion. I acutally appreciated it.
I admire Rubio too and I also believe he’s a genuine conservative. I may not agree with him fully or even partially on immigration report, but I am not going to cast him aside on this one issue. This is why conservatives lose elections, BTW. We throw out the bathwater not realizing there a baby in the bathtub. Reagan is our hero, right? Look what he did.
If he wasn’t “all in” for Romney, who should he have been “all in” for?
And exactly whom are those people going to call? ICE? The same ICE that just last month released over 2,000 criminal illegals? I take it you really believe them when they say they'll get serious about border enforcement. I don't.
That's right, dry up the bennies and the worst of the worst will self deport. That plus a secure border make this an issue hardly worth mentioning in just a very few years, not to mention a country that is financially better off as a result.
Sorry for the double post. Something technically wacky going on this morning ...
Well, Rush has a national audience and he invited Rubio onto the show; hence, he provided Rubio a national forum.
Rubio was been pro-amnesty even before he was elected to the US Senate—I’m from Florida and have been watching him for a long time. While listening to Rubio’s comments, my interpretation is that he did indeed pitch the concept of amnesty; although he may not have used the specific term.
Given the above, I don’t see how my headline was BS, insulting, or otherwise misleading.
Further, Rush has been gushing over Rubio for months—Calling him a fine conservative, or words to that effect even today. (I disagree, given that Rubio has gone all-in on this bill that has the backing of Shumer.) I vividly remember Rush giving significant airtime to Boehner during budget negotiations a couple of years ago. In the end, we conservatives had the carpet pulled out from under us. I’m suspicious of that happening again.
I’ve been listening to the program since Rubio went off. Of the callers that have made it onto the air, my sense is they didn’t buy what Rubio was selling, for what that’s worth.
The “Limbaugh lovers” comment was inappropriate, and for that I apologize.
Any comprehensive bill is a scam. Do things step by step with separate bills for each step.
Step 1: Secure the border.
Step 2: Visa control for those who overstay visas.
Step 3: Cut illegal aliens off from government cheese.
Step 4: To be determined once step 3 is completed...
Heck, complete steps 1-3 and you might not need step 4.
Well, a couple of things - and thanks for reply by the way.
First, technically your headline is not fully incorrect, but it certainly indicates (not says directly, but DOES indictate) a motivation on Rush’ part that was clearly not the case.
Now, Rush does really like Rubio, and remember Rush has NEVER been a single issue definition guy - and while Rush clearly disagrees with Rubio on this and clearly thinks Rubio is being naive regarding Schumer, etc - Rush does appreciate the way Rubio speaks of the American dream and is not going to throw him out over one issue.
It is your right to do so, but at least admit that’s what you are doing. I would say that Rush didn’t buy what Rubio was selling, the difference is, some are calling that a disagreement and others are calling it something more sinister.
Yes he is a hero, but he is deserving of some pretty harsh criticism, on a range of issues.
This one issue you seem to be able to just ignore, is truly a game changer that will doom the Republic with no real chance of recovery. This bill is a fraud and Rubio should know that, and I think he does.
I recognized Rubio for what he was before he was elected to the Senate. After all he is clean and articulate. </sarcasm>
Yeah—It’s making me crazy.
First, you find someone with a spine to propose it.
My interpretation of the polls is that it would be a huge winner.
No Rubio, No Rubio (repeat ad nauseum).
I liked that Rush finally said “why offer any alternative, just say no”. To which Rubio went into RINO mode and his scripted spiel (”a couple of things here”). He is a loser. He needs to go into the crapper with Chubs Christie.
I hate all these people, they are bound and determined to bring this country down.
I expect immigration to suffer the same fate as these recent gun bills. I don’t see that it will go anywhere so right now am not that worried about it.
I am also thinking that the newest hero on the block aka Cruz is going to end up being shot down by conservatives soon, heck I’ve even seen it done here to Palin. I’m just tired of our side constantly finding reasons to become a ciruclar firing squad.
Rubio was on Levin yesterday. So is it now time to throw Levin under the bus?

I guess we’ll agree to disgree on the headline—I don’t think I was doing anything untoward.
Sure sparked a response, though.
