20+ years ago the media would have been marvelling at the admission of guilt on her part. He only threatened to go after (legally) those who are guilty of harassing his wife.
Smart, likely. If the stalker was just a routine, liberal PITA, then they'll get scared and back off. Lib protesters only bully people who let themselves be bullied. There's a reason why PETA attacks old ladies in fur coats, rather than Hell's Angels in leather jackets.
However, if this stalker is really serious and doesn't go away, then Col. West can handle the problem with a completely clean conscience. And, is on the record as having warned the stalker, as well.
I'd be willing to bet that the local PD knows a whole lot more about this situation than the "reporter" in the story.
