A Prepper Magazine, For Us, By Us (Vanity)

Any of you who frequent the prepper threads, or are on the Prepper Ping List, I am putting together a monthly free magazine, BY US and FOR US.

This is not a blog pimp post, I don't have a blog or web site, and don't want one. I am looking for interested FReepers to provide content (articles, photos, columns, gear reviews, etc.) that will be assembled into a PDF that is ad free and noncommercial, which will be posted here monthly and, if Kartographer agrees, pinged to the Prepper ping list for free download and enjoyment.

Readers will not have to visit any web site or blog or anything. A simple click on the monthly link will open a PDF of articles written by your fellow FReepers.

Sample Cover

Cover

The purpose of this is for 1) interested FReepers to share their prepper knowledge in a nice, portable format, 2) to provide user-generated, free, high-quality content for our Forum, and 3) to assist our fellow preppers with how-tos, reviews and other useful information.

Maybe you know about gardening, or maybe it's ammo storage methods, or maybe food preservation and storage. You could have a featured article that helps lots of other FReepers with their own preps, whether it be for weather events, societal dysfunction or even zoooooombieeees. Readers can then comment on the thread in which the PDF was posted, like any other article.

The benefit of assembling articles in a PDF are numerous. First, it brings together many of us into one thread for discussion of several articles all generally about the same thing: prepping. Second, it gives FReepers a very fun and cool outlet to share things they may not feel like sharing directly in the thread. For example, someone may want to share a how-to article about canning, but they can't format the html to efficiently display the accompanying photos. With a PDF, they can just email me the photos and text, and I'll take care of the rest. The article will appear the following month in a clean, easy-to-read format.

If there is any interest in 1) reading something like this on a monthly basis, or 2) contributing to such a thing, please let me know here in the thread. Once again, this is completely ad-free, non-commercial, and does not pimp any site or blog. It's just high-quality, free content for us to all enjoy!

Articles you submit can be attributed to your FR username, or can be attributed anonymously for that matter. It's our magazine, we can do it however we want.

Mods, since this is BY FReepers, FOR FReepers, and is basically just assembling content to post in a thread, I can't see how this would be a problem, but if it is, just let me know.

Thanks for all the interest in, and encouragement toward, this project. The feature story for May will cover steps a person can take to mitigate the effects of a Boston-like attack. We will discuss the contents of an "EDC" Bag (Every Day Carry).

I strongly recommend every FReeper carry one, and learn how to use its contents (tourniquet, burn jel, Celox or Quikclot, and more). We don't all have to become paramedics, but being able to immediately apply a tourniquet to the area above a severed limb, or to employ Quikclot granules to a profusely bleeding wound, or to remedy a sucking chest wound caused by a projectile, could very well mean the difference between life and death.

I hope you will all send me any ideas or expertise you have in this area. I have a great deal of experience from military and law enforcement service, and I feel competent to write the article, but I appreciate any input you all have.

Thanks.

I like the PDF file version. I still have friends and family that I can not get connected to FR. That way I can send them yours on the PDF, never been able to get that cut and paste thing down. These old eyes and arthritic hands can not type out those long url's with out making errors that take hours to correct.
