I am in no way belittling this poor child. I feel really bad for his family and friends and I can not comprehend the loss of my son or anyone else.
However, I could not help but notice the irony of this picture. The little guy probably had idealistic bleeding heart liberal teachers.
When I was his age we boys were drawing army men and tanks and other war pictures.
May he rest in a better place now.
I thought the same thing about how ironic that he’d be holding that sign up.
Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Mom and sister terribly injured, this boy dead and luckily one son unhurt.
I pray we will find the perpetrators of this act and that God sends his mercy to everyone affected by this terrible act.
It’s just not that easy. There is evil in the world and people who do evil.
bttt
Peace is not the absence of war, but the presence of justice.
There you go.
When the word “Peace” was turned into some kind of trademarked, we own it, retort to everything that the lefties felt was unfair, it lost its meaning. Libs ruin everything.
Peace has a different meaning when it’s demanded by someone that fights to earn it.
May God bless and receive this child.
That having been said, I was one of those boys who drew pictures of Army men. Then I became one and after that a policeman.
I have - skills. There are many thousands more like me who are far more skilled and experienced in arts that would make the bleeding heart bedwetters who persuaded this child to write this sign faint dead away.
We are the rough men who stand ready in the night to do violence on their behalf so they can sleep soundly in their beds (h/t to TR).
I fear that the generation who headed off to Iraq and Afghanistan may be the last of the breed.
I thought the same as you (may God forgive me for the irreverence). I have a cousin, an avowed pacifist, who says nothing is ever gained through war.
At the risk of sounding even more irreverent — I would like to think this tragedy might be a wake-up call to liberals and anyone with delusions that evil can be dealt with “civilly.” Alas, I may be just as naive.

Something about what you wrote touched me in such a way that I knew this prayer was for you:
May God Bless you and keep you and allow your sons and daughters to honor your name.
Thanks for your service.
Well, I am confident that this young angel is in Heaven where his sign has come true....prophetic maybe vice ironic.
It has always bothered me that the “peace symbol” is an inverted cross.
“I don’t believe in violence, I don’t even believe in peace.”
Words from an obscure song from my youth.
My six year old brought home a picture he drew at school. It was a large, fanged sea serpent with a stick guy on top jamming a knife into its head and the sea serpent spitting out a bunch of stick figure soldiers with guns.
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
If you want peace, prepare for war.
And I have two sons, grown and forging their lives. I couldn’t imagine having lost one of them.
I pray for this little boy and his family.
With all due respect, I find this post in poor taste.
However, with the weaponry now a single service man or women can do a lot more damage then we could when I was in during the 80's. The Reagan years, a proud time to be an American.
When I was young my Mother used to call the peace symbol a chicken scratch. I did not know what she meet until I got older.
