Yesterday, the Associated Press reported that an unnamed "law enforcement official, citing an intelligence briefing, said that cell phone service had been deliberately switched off in Boston to prevent another bomb being detonated by a cell phone. However, providers have denied that cellular networks were deliberately shut down..The carriers said heavy usage caused connection delaysbut service remained available in the city throughout the day..

The “technology trap” exemplified. Just goes how useless our modern technology will be when the SHTF.
We’ve been hearing non-stop that the government was astonishingly responsive and expert...how can this be?
I really hate the lamestream “media”. They are so lazy (see tagline).
A friend of mine is the guy at Verizon that shut them down.
Silence! You cannot contradict the Official Narrative! Obama has spoken. So let it be written, so let it be done.
In the article it says that Verizon is denying it.
I can more easily believe the circuits were jammed than believe the cell networks were shut down by government request.
In the first place, the same thing happened in Texas during the Hurricane Rita evacuation. I was part of a three-car family caravan heading to Canyon Lake from Galveston County. We were keeping touch with each other by cell phone. Worked fine in the early morning, but after about 11:00 am we couldn’t get calls through. (Text messaging worked though.) We later discovered the whole city of Houston was doing a reverse “Runaway Scrape” after the idiot mayor called for a voluntary evacuation. People in the 1960 area on the northwest side were bugging out to “escape” the storm surge. Brought the cell system to its knees.
Second — you’ld have to assume that someone high enough in law enforcement to be heard would actually be quick-witted enough to think of it - in real time, under pressure, without going to the boss’s boss’s boss for permission first. You don’t get that high in the government without perfecting the fine art of not taking responsibility.
Same thing happened here after a bad tornado.
The cell phones did not work.
A couple of towers went offline due to the tornado itself, and the rest could not handle anything close to the volume of traffic.
So, as soon as we had an emergency, our emergency cell phones were useless.
It’s the second time I have had the uselessness of a cell phone demonstrated to me.
As soon as you really need to communicate, you can’t.
A CB radio still works fine, though.
I’m glad my whole family has their amateur “ham” radio licenses....no one can stop me from pushing the transmit button.
Unless they take your license away, of course.
Saw him at 6:30 last night.
That’s interesting, what do you think?
If the gov’t did tell them to shut it down and now they’re denying it, maybe the gov’t doesn’t want the people to know they would do like the Iranians did when the citizens protested; cut off communication.
Same thing happened after Katrina. Even if you could get a signal it did not mean your call would go through.
