Nothing makes sense.
When my husband took his own life two years ago, the Medical Examiners office stole his drivers license and wedding ring. Of course I can’t prove anything, and since then there was a big scandal with that office stealing the identities of dead people.
We assume that the place where we are told to “put things” are secure.

Sorry for your loss.
I ran the Marine Corps Marathon three times - and even with Marines guarding the tents where our post-race bags were, all I ever had in my bag was a change of clothes.
And I'm a former Marine.

I’m sorry for the loss of your husband....what a tragedy.
My father died in 1997. His heart seized up as he was sitting at the kitchen table, paying bills. That night, when we took my mother home, we found that one of the paramedics had stolen his checkbook. So, while my father lay dying at the hospital, I had to take my dazed mother to the bank to close out the account.
The fire department claimed the guy only took it for “safekeeping.” I was young then, and as deep in shock as my mom, so I didn’t pursue it.

A couple years back, there was a small plane that crashed injuring the pilot serious, in my county.
Media was at the site were they airlifted him to a hospital. They took a photo of him on the stretcher. He had a Rolex on. The next photo at the hospital showed the same guy, missing his Rolex.
