RENO, Nev. -- Shots rang out in a Stead neighborhood early Sunday afternoon after two pit bulls attacked a jogger and his dog.
It happened on Rising Sun Drive. Police say the man lives in the area and was jogging in a residential area when the pit bulls attacked.
"Two loose, unrestrained pit bulls attacked his dog and when he tried to separate the pit bulls and his dog, the pit bulls attacked him," said Sgt. Joe Lever of the Reno Police Department. "He was jogging with a concealed firearm which he has a permit for. He discharged the firearm twice, striking one dog who died instantly. We followed a blood trail and found the other in a backyard with a through-and-through wound."
Police say the dog was standing when they found it and was rushed to a nearby animal hospital.

Why did the cops waste taxpayer money by rushing the shot dog to a hospital? Not their money I guess.
People left on vacation and left the dogs out in the yard?

I call BS on that one.
That’s good to know, but if one or more approaches me unattended or unleashed or both, it’s getting maced in the face until it goes away.
And if that fails, I will use other more potent measures.

In New York, it would still be illegal!
This pit bull was sweet and adorable until she sicced it on a man and his daughter and also an animal control officer.

All too often, “sweet and adorable” pit bills go into attack mode for not reason.

I don’t understand irresponsible dog owners who care so little about their dogs that they just let them run free. I told my neighbor just last week that his dogs are either going to get stolen, poisoned, hit by a car or shot. These aren’t just mutts, but expensive dogs. Just laziness, I guess.
