Problems with Internet Explorer
Posted on 04/13/2013 5:22:49 AM PDT by quintr
Am having trouble with Internet Explorer. Is anyone else experience problems with this browser. Return key won't work when typing emails and some attachments won't download with a note that there's a problem with IE. Any suggestions?

I've been running Waterfox (18.0.1) on Win7 Pro for a month w/ no problems.
What browser are you using - IE or Firefox? Try switching to the other browser.
Try downloading the setup file and running it from your HD (rather than running/installing from within your browser).

Your hate for all things Microsoft is already on record.
It is not hate but frustration with something that does not work. I also delete all google. IE had a serious problem on my computer and I quit using it. I run MRT regularly. I used to use AVG and Avira both until they started fighting. Windows defender is shut down by AVG. I have windows security updated almost daily. MSMPENG.com sure slows things down. I never had these problems with 3.0, 95, or 98.

As soon as AVG is done I will reboot and try again. Something shut down my downloads box so I may have other problems.

Any suggestins? Stop using XP and upgrade to Win 8 (an assumption since you didn’t say). You can choose between the traditional look of IE or use the Bing tile. I really prefer my email on the tile vs. traditional IE.

Man that Waterfox is fast. Does Adobe flash play well with Waterfox or do you suggest something else?

When I fire up a new browser, I try not to install any add-ons as a rule. Then, as I surf the Internet, I let the browser tell me I need something specific (like Flash) to view some part of a webpage properly.
With regard to your medical condition - my comment about seeing a doctor was supposed to be a joke in reference to your having "waterfox." l
I'm sorry you misunderstood as I'd never joke about something that personal/private. I'm quite happy to hear of your latest results.

explorer constantly dies on me, locks up, then reloads, then repeats itselfI've been having problems with IE locking up on me lately...ran virus program, didn't help. I had loaded Opera a while back so I could use it on my mobile phone and have been using the Opera browser instead of IE and am very, very happy with it...no lock ups and the best thing is the popups have disappeared!
I'll leave IE in the programs for a while, but will not use it as long as Opera is working so well for me.
One question..is Opera as open to viruses as IE is?

Of course, you installed Chrome, then uninstalled Exploder.

Thanks a bunch. Chrome works. It was so annoying to type an email as one big long paragraph. And annoying for my recipients to read probably, too.
