All I know is if you stop eating sugary carbs you will never need another maalox again.

“Sugary” includes starches like potato and wheat.

Seriously. If you have chronic heartburn, cut the carbs and it will disappear in 3 days. Forever.

Eat meat and green vegetables.

Back in 2008 I developed heartburn after a hospital stay that year when the doctor put me on an assortment of medications, including Lisinopril. The heartburn got so bad I needed yet another prescription medication to counter it. Non-prescription meds like Maalox didn't help. Couldn't eat some of my favorite foods like tomatoes or oranges. Then about a year ago, another doctor took me off Lisinopril. Overnight, the heartburn vanished.

Yeah I think that’s a factor. I generally avoid carbs and rarely have heartburn but I baked a loaf of bread the other day on a whim. It was so good that I had three or four thick slices and, sure enough, wound up with heartburn.

BTW, I’ve read that a serving of cooked broccoli is an excellent natural heartburn remedy.

I agree with the WHEAT

A gluten-free diet cured my chronic heartburb, I lost 25 pounds, and feel LOT better (no more inflamed joints)

I also started taking tumeric, cinnamon, fish oil, magnesium and potassium capsules

I feel quite a lot better

I agree. That was the first thing I noticed on Atkins. Mine cleared up within a day after years of chronic issues.

Yup, I went on a high protein, low carb, low calorie diet once. The changes were amazing. Didn’t need antacids anymore and my blood pressure dropped down to 100 over 60. It wasn’t that low even in my teens. But that diet was impossible!
