Burglar Eats Concrete While Stealing Golf Clubs, but Still Gets Away (Video)
Phoenix New Times ^ | Fri., Apr. 12 2013 | Matthew Handley

Today in Brief Acts of Criminal Stupidity, a burglary got a face full of concrete as he tripped over himself while stealing golf clubs from a Phoenix home.

The only thing that could've made this video better is if it would've ended in an arrest, thus associating a name and mugshot with this act of criminal stupidity.

While you are there, check out that story about Arpaio,

“Joe Arpaio Takes Full Advantage of Scary Box in Mail: “I’m a Victim”

**”Authorities in Flagstaff discovered a package with a rudimentary explosive device addressed to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and the Sheriff pulled out all the stops for this one.

Trump up reality? Check. Play the victim? Check. Blame Mexican drug cartels, try to associate the incident with unrelated murders for all the drooling reporters to lap up, while leaving New Times out of it? Check.

The story’s fairly simple — the package was picked up by a mailman from a drop-off near Flagstaff, and at least one postal worker thought it was suspicious. There was excessive postage on it, and it was addressed to Arpaio.

The postal inspector got involved, and they found that the box had explosive powder, and what appeared to be wires and a battery.

So, Arpaio holds the press conference — one of those press conferences where the invite to New Times conveniently gets lost in an apparent e-mail black hole — as Arpaio and chief deputy Jerry Sheridan trumped up reality.

We caught part of this thanks to a live feed from Channel 3, as Sheridan explained that it’s “very much like cartels” to do something like this. Sheridan referred to this as “an actual explosive device,” which all sounded oh-so-credible when he explained, “I’m not making this up.”

Well, a law-enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation tells New Times it was “not a very sophisticated device.”**

I’ll tell you what I think. Sheriff Joe needs to take his personal security very, very seriously from now on.

And I think this article is crap.

It happens every time someone posts quotes from New Times, then insists everybody read the jump link to the rag.

Well I had never heard of it until this thread.

While there I noticed the truly humorous article, the one about Arpaio and someone sending him a bomb to kill him, and the headline and story was just to wild to pass up.

The headline in a news story about a bomb mailed to kill a sheriff is ““Joe Arpaio Takes Full Advantage of Scary Box in Mail: “I’m a Victim””

See, to me that article is a keeper and would make for a much more interesting thread, it cracks me up.

I see. Yes, when looked upon that way, it is a hoot. New Times has been blessed with some of the most retarded yet overrated writers on the planet. Deborah Laake used to really crack me up because she took herself so seriously. Sort of a local version of Maureen Dowd.

(Anything short of pointing and laughing at her was “too seriously.”)

I had saved the link and was planning on running a thread on it at some point in the coming weeks after the investigation had progressed, when the humor would be maximized, if I do, I will make sure that everyone knows that it is for fun and laughs.

Yes, I understand. Sometimes laughing at New Times is an inside joke. I can takes years to cultivate a real appreciation for just how bad they are. And one can’t really get a feel for that from the online edition. You have to pick up the pulp version and leaf through the “Massage Therapists” and “Gentlemen Clubs” ads mixed in with the articles.

Reading a screed about the evil patriarch society opposite the full page ad containing a larger-than-life boob (w/ pierced nipple) is irony impossible for the average liberal mind to grasp, and that’s the mind of the target audience.

Which is probably why the paper is free. There is no shortage of ad-buying merchants willing to exploit the fools and tools.

What did you think of the article?

I think the article is disgusting, somebody tries to murder the Sheriff and these communists still insist on deriding the would be victim. The New Times has been against Joe from day one. The RATS want illegals because they vote for RATS and Joe has been doing everything he can to arrest them. Obama and his willing idiots like the New Times have trumped up charges and smeared Joe continuously. What really infuriates them is that Joe has not backed down but fought back by showing the birth certificate is fake. To get an idea of just how relentless this mob has been Joe now faces a recall vote only a few months from after he won reelection!
