RIP Jonathan. You entertained me and made me smile and laugh as I was growing up. Your legacy has already been passed to my children. They love your work. I fully expect my grandchildren will be delighted by your talents.

Jonathan Winters had an incredible ability to make people laugh and feel good. That’s enough of a legacy for me.

In the mid 60s Dad bought this giant stereo console and the demonstration record that came with it had one side with sound effects, trains going by, planes, jackhammers etc. On the other side was Jonathan Winters comedy. His stories with him giving sounds, like a crocodile opening its mouth and natives chanting was so funny....well so funny I still remember it...

We have antenna TV, including a channel called Me TV. As I write, they are airing the classic Twilight Zone episode, “A Game of Pool,” starring Jonathan Winters and Walter Matthau. Perfect!

Have a memory of the one time I got to meet Jonathan Winters. I was a kid and he was promoting a movie which was being shot somewhere in Los Angeles in the late 60’s (The Midnight Oil (?)) I was too young to actually know who he was, just heard my mom talking that he was famous and he was one of my dad's favorites. Since my dad had his own business, I decided to approach him and give him one of my dad's business cards. I remember him taking the card, signing the back and handing it back to me. I didn't understand why he did this and I handed the card back to him telling him “ no, this is for you”. I remember him looking at me kind of perplexed, then realizing what I was trying to do. He turned to someone sitting next to him and said (laughing) “I always wanted this autograph”.

RIP Mr. Winters.

Back in the 70’s on Carson I remember him saying there are a couple less Toyota dealers because of him in WW2. Could never get away with that today, unfortunately.
