Pinging the List.
I have chard, beets, radishes, and cabbages popping up now. They’re little cute things an inch high, but progress is progress and I’ll take it. It’s been two weeks since I planted.
Here’s a planting calendar that you can use by just typing in your zip code. It was accurate for my area, but for those who may have year round growing seasons, not so much.
If you try it, let me know whether it works for you or not.

Here is the link tubebender provided last week. It was a pretty interesting video for a laid back approach to gardening and the use of layers of mulch. Lots of biblical quotes as it goes along. I really enjoyed watching it.

18” of wet snow Monday-Wednesday at our place; 28.2” at the official measuring site in town. The peas & replanted onions should be very happy with it.
We were able to get in & out okay in the Expedition all 3 days, but Wednesday afternoon I dug out the tractor anyway; I wanted to minimize the melt-mud. I cleared the driveways around the house, and a mile of road the county doesn’t maintain...then met a neighbor on his 4-wheeler, who told me he had ordered a road grader from town to come out Thursday to plow the road. Had I known 3 hours earlier....
None of my eggs hatched. When things settle a bit, I’ll try another batch.
Been gone most of the day, and am at a friend’s house, so thought I’d get this posted before we leave for home.
I’ve made a bit of progress this week in spite of the storm that came through on Wednesday. Set out my cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower Sunday evening. Monday and Tuesday after work was spent sowing lettuce, kale, carrots, beets, various other assorted salad greens and setting about 75’ of red potatoes.
The blossoms on my peach trees survived the light frost of the past two nights. The plum trees all started to blossom yesterday. Pears are just starting, nothing showing on the apples and cherries so far.
It’s too muddy to get in the garden now so Mrs. Augie and I spent most of the morning planting trees. Half a dozen scotch pine, half a dozen hazelnut and a few sycamore. Pops bought a whole bunch of stuff from the state nursery this spring but he ran out of gas before they all got planted so he gave us what was left. We have a few more hazelnut and ten or so persimmons to set out tomorrow.
