Yup, remember the big steering wheels, couldn't believe the first car I drove with power steering, it was like freaking magic.
Started out with my grandfather's old Ford truck, had a dump bed and a flat bed, you needed all the leverage you could get to steer that thing on the farm.

Power brakes were another story. I had a helluva time adjusting to them after learning to drive in cars with standard hydraulic brakes.

Those big steering wheels were needed for leverage.
Most of us old timers had a spinner on the steering wheel so you could essentially steer with one hand and spin the steering wheel through its many turns when going around a corner.
