Crow uses three step process to get food.

But didn’t she testify against OUR Lance?
Crows can be temporary guests in your neighborhood but somebody has to be feeding them. They’re not bothered by kids...a little kid can walk along the sidewalk and given a stick or something, tap it on the ground, the crow will walk along with the kid but when another crow sees that and flies down on...they both fly off and maybe later one of them will come back for more, especially if you call them by name. However, they remember but they’ll always go back to being what they are. Enjoy the fact that this or that crow seemed to make friends with that kid for however long.
No problem with that. But I have a problem with killing for fun.
Growing up on the farm, we would shoot them on sight. We all carried a 20ga w/#4 shot on the tractor, combine or truck.
We never ate them...it never occurred to us to consider such.
We considered them vermin and they were Wiley to shoot. Once they saw the gun, they would bolt.
What a great writer. He nailed it! Thanks for that excellent reminder. :o)
Crows amaze me when they’re eating something on the highway and you’re approaching at 80 mph, and, at the last second, they hop out of the way, then hop right back and continue eating.
The Ravens say “nevermore?”
So you don't think they'll repeat as Super Bowl champs?
As a biker, I am conflicted about Lance.
Drugs are a big part of the Cycling Industry. If you want to win...you have to master the process.
Lance lived by the industry norms.
Is he scum...sure. Would I have done it...no.
Am I morally superior to Lance. Probably not.
If they were as smart as they say, they'd give you a speeding ticket!
Grackles aren’t particularly smart, move in huge flocks, foul everything wherever they are with copious splats of poop and have a very annoying call like a chorus of porch swings with rusty chains needing a good dose of WD-40.
Crows and ravens are more of the individualist though they will move in groups at times. They’re not such slobs. They’re not as easily startled by people either. If you shoot grackles they’ll go away but will be back. If you shoot crows or ravens, it will be a very long time before you ever see one again.
I live in a rural area. We do what we have to do.
That said, when I was a kid, I did kill for fun for a short time...much guilt/shame about that.
Counting Crows ... boy is that one whiny annoying band.
Crows are interesting characters and they are probably not as harmful as some farmers think but I have personally seen them carrying off baby birds in their beaks.
I shoot them and feel no regrets in doing so.
I always thought the Counting Crows song "A Murder Of One" -- from their August and Everything After CD -- had one of the cleverest titles of any song I've heard.
For some reason that I've never understood, the word "murder" is used to describe a group of crows. Go figure.
