Probably more effective during the winter than during the summer.
(What if it comes through the windshield into the passenger seat and you just drive it home? (been there, done it)).

This was legal long ago in PA where I grew up. You did have to notify a game commision officer, but after doing so, they would let you haul off the venison.

The only “road kill” folks would have any interest in are moose elk and deer...them little critters aren't of much good after they been hit at 80+ mph......

I’d think that the small ones would have been (SUV) tenderized.

Well, as long as it only applies to animals....”We’re getting closer to town” “How can you tell?” “We’re hitting more people”

We’re allowed to keep deer or antelope...but not elk or bison...that we hit, AFTER waiting for a cop to arrive on-scene to take the report and document the accident.
In accidents involving mountain lions, if it survives, it can opt to keep the driver.

approved a bill that would allow residents to salvage meat from wild animals accidentally killed on the state's roadways
Why does there even have to be a law? If it's dead and you killed it with your car, then take the damn thing home and eat it if you want.......

Animals that get get hit by cars usually suffer so much internal trauma the meat is all bloodshot. Pretty much not too very appealing. “Honey fry me up another blood clot.”
