I like Zepplin, but there would not be a Zepplin if not for Humble Pie and the very underrated Steve Marriot (Best known for 30 Days in the Hole or I Don't Need No Doctor)
Hard to really see how that's possible since Led's formation precedes Humble Pie by at least five months. Even harder to see since Zeppelin was primarily a blues influenced band in the beginning, and their later work shows no influence from Humble Pie, nor, to my knowledge have any band members ever claimed that any ever existed...
There’s a fantastic youtube vid of Steve Marriot doing “Black Coffee” in studio. It is truly amazing.

With all due respect son
LZ was simply an eventuality of Yardbirds same as Beck or Clapton’s endeavors
Page had to play somewhere after them and wanted a harder blues sound
Pie evolved from Small Faces and actually started slightly later than LZ
Neither came from the other...Pie was fun and rollicking.....Cactus like
LZ ....well....they really have no peers in my view in the trippy medieval blues rock.....originators
But if we want to credit Brit rock firsts?
Stones...Beatles....Who....Kinks came first
Yardbirds and Blues breakers spawned a whole lot
Savoy Brown
I liked Humble Pie....saw them in 72 I think
But LZ from first to Houses is like the Torah of rock history
Same level as Stones circa 68-72
With all due respect
