The George W Bush era of "McJobs" looks so good in hindsight. Unemployment below 5%, entry level workers didn't feel compelled to strike because their entry level wages were too low, and health insurance was affordable.
The Age of Obama? They tell me it's a golden age, but it sure doesn't seem like it.

“”It’s not enough,” Elba Godoy”
And yet Elba you and your coworkers still can’t get an order of a cheeseburger and a coke correct. Perhaps that’s the reason. And fast food jobs are not supposed to be a lifetime career.

Why bother with the employer?
Don't they know that wages are set by the government?
If they don't like the maximum wage, then organize, form a union, bribe a politician to pass a law for better wages like we teachers did.
Sheesh. Welcome to Demerica.

My nephew moved in with me the other day so he could save what little he makes at a fast food joint, for an apartment with a room mate. I won’t take rent or charge him for gas to take him to work so he can get on his feet.
The fact is, fast food restaurants are not the kind of place a person should work if they plan to raise a family. They’re for young people just getting started.

Dumbsh*ts. don't they know that federal minimum wages are simply a way to create more tax revenue? It has nothing to do with cost of living.
Let it Burn. And google the sh*t out of the names in the article, and there will be a trail to some LefTard group, as usual.

We used to joke about this when I worked at McHell, what we thought would happen if we went on strike, the general consensus was they’d just hire the first 40 applicants and have us all replaced by the end of the week. FF workers make nothing because they’re easily replaced.

In a perfect world, those jobs would be done by teenagers who still live with mom and dads, and not by those who think that flipping burgers should be a ‘career.’

And yet Elba you and your coworkers still cant get an order of a cheeseburger and a coke correct. Yeah, there's that. I really don't know what our society can do with people who cannot process a customer who says's "I would like a Big Mac and small coke, please. That's my whole order. Here's a $10 bill."
Man, I've seen a lot of McDonald's workers stumped by a complex transaction like that. They ought to go someplace where the work is easier ... but there is no place where the work is easier. What can we do with such people?

You don’t stay at $7.25 at McD’s if you are worth more, correct?

And yet it’s what passes for job creation these days.
I could make a comment about the job issue but i don’t feel like answering 1000 flaming messages. (Not saying you would but the last time i made a statement to you i was harassed all day by the selective readers here.
Sorely tempted though.

This all seems a little fishy to me. Who would work in Manhattan for 7.25/hour? I'm pretty sure McDonald's pays better than that where I live. I suppose newly arrived immigrants could conceivably drive down wages to that level, but I'm just not believing that this is a common occurence.
At any rate, the simple answer for these people is to move out of there.

Why don’t they just call 911 on their Obama phone?

"It's not enough," Elba Godoy, a crew member at a McDonald's just a few blocks from Times Square, said of her $7.25-per-hour minimum wage, which helps support her extended family of seven. "They don't like [that we're out here], but we have to do it. We cannot survive on $7.25."
it "helps" .. "extended family of 7".. how many of those 7 are capable of working but don't? the "helps" - is it helping another wage earner, or (more likely) a bunch of welfare/ ssdi/ food stamps/ medicare/ cash assitance.. etc. ?

Reading into this, apparently they organized this privately without a union, but they want to start a union. At first I thought, since when are McDonalds employees ever in a laboro union??
