There is plenty of blame for the act she was guilty of doing. Real blame can be attached to American political authorities in that they have never arrested, tried and hung Fonda for treason. Her Vietnam conduct matches the conduct defined as treason in our Constitution.
I should have added, IF she is being sincere.
Treason is a political crime striking at an entire nation and its people.
I Will Go to My Grave with ‘Unforgivable Mistake’...
The air pockets between your ears were just to big for you to use common sense...Right, Janie girl...?
I’m still not fonda Jane.
Vietnam POWs famously handed her messages to smuggle back to the West. She denounced them to the guards. They got beaten and worse.
When she voluntarily brings that up in conversation and asks the families for forgiveness - that would be worth taking notice of, perhaps.
Jesus will forgive just about anything except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Turn to Him and forget what everyone else says.
No, actually it didn't. It was a carefully crafted image and it successfully communicated precisely what it was intended to communicate - that a sizable portion of influential young Americans not only did not support the troops but actively opposed them to the extent of being willing to shoot at them. The only difference is that Fonda thought the gesture heroic and popular at the time and has since come to the realization that it no longer is.
That sort of treason, however, came with remarkably little penalty. Our sitting Secretary of State founded his political career on it. Fonda now feels badly about it - apparently, although it is difficult to determine from her words how badly or why - but Kerry has never, to my knowledge, even once expressed regret for the slander he rode to office.
It exists. None dare call it treason.
Jane Fonda: “I Will Go to My Grave with ‘Unforgivable Mistake’”
The sooner the better, Jane!
You think the little runt is a “c”ommunist? ;-P
But it's somewhat beside the point. What Fonda did was wrong and she should face jail time, fines - whatever the appropriate temporal punishment is.
If she was truly repentant of her crime she would welcome it. Be punished in this world Fonda! Not the next!
Holy crap is that such a total flat out razor sharp LIE. This freakin' piece of pig vomit made TEN radio broadcasts while over there denouncing the US leaders as war criminals, called POWs hypocrites and liars when they said they were tortured, and she wants us to believe she "immediately knew she made a mistake"...BULLSH*T! This woman is a TRAITOR who should have been EXECUTED 40 years ago!
She doesn’t apologize for the complicated and expensive trip and the mission, merely the revealing photo that captured that moment of it.
She has apologized? I do not see that in her ACTIONS. Is she supporting veterans today? Talking to young people about not making the same mistake? Doing anything proactive in a way to undo what she did?
YES AND I HAVEN’T HEARD OF ANY LARGE DONATION OF DOLLARS TO ANY VET HOSPITAL .....THAT’D BE A NICE GESTURE....OR START A REVOLVING FUND TO PUT WOUNDED OR DECEASED VET’S KIDS THRU SCHOOL...
Her ‘apologies’ are few and far between and no where near as public as the publicized screw up, which by the way, bought her tons of free, and for the period, very lucrative and 'cool' publicity. She cashed in on the screw up and hasn't been able to live it down, since.
Besides, nothing in her behavior or speech since then is consistent with contrition on this.
I hope you’re not disappointed in getting your wish.
She will go straight to a Burning Hell before her rotten corpse reaches the grave.
