Democratic Legislator: I Don’t Regret Killing My Baby in Abortion

A Democratic state legislator in Nevada is making waves for comments saying she does not regret killing her baby in an abortion.

Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, a Democrat from Las Vegas, makes the false assumption that being a teen mother is incompatible with completing ones education or a successful career and gives that as the reason why she had an abortion and has no regrets about it.

As a local newspaper reports:

Flores told the Assembly Education Committee that she had an abortion when she was 16. It was an emotional moment, but not the only one in a hearing that lasted for hours.

Flores, who is a Rancho High graduate, told the hearing that her mother left the family when Flores was nine years old. From there, it was up to her father to work two jobs to support her and her sisters.

“I had six other sisters, all of them became pregnant in their teens – all of them,” Flores said. “One was 14 years old when she got pregnant with twins. That is what I had to learn from.”

“Now in retrospect, if I could go back and be on birth control – or better yet – learn to fill my life with something else, other than having the attention of a man in the non-healthy relationship, I would have preferred to do that, if someone would have talked to me about it.”

It was difficult for her to go to her father, tell him she was pregnant and ask for money to get the abortion. It was apparent that she has strong and unpleasant memories of that time of her life.

“I didn’t want to be like that (teen mom),” Flores said. “I wanted to do better and I knew I couldn’t do that if I had a baby, just like everyone else (in my family). My dad gave me the money and I went with a friend of mine (to have the abortion) and I will never forget that, having that done.”

Flores said she didn’t regret having the abortion. Clearly, however, it was difficult to talk about it.

“I don’t regret it,” Flores said. “I don’t regret it because I am here (at the Legislature), making a difference, at least in my mind, for the young ladies and letting them know their options. They can do things not to be in the situation I was in, to prevent it.

Unlike Flores, most women regret their abortions and tell painful stories of how they are often unable to come to grips with taking the life of their child. Research proves abortions cause a multitude of mental health issues for women.

The pro-life group Life Dynamics says Flores is active and involved in the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

“Flores has been endorsed by Nevada Advocates for Planned Parenthood Affiliates. According to Planned Parenthood Action, Flores has been an active supporter of Planned Parenthood and took part in Planned Parenthood’s Latino Outreach program in southern Nevada,” it said.

How can you live with having murdered your own child?

I’ll bet the Flores house had teenage boys lined up around the corner.

She won't live well. If we followed her life, we'd see painful relationships, one after the other. Divorce, separation, drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and/or child abuse, etc. and so on are in her future, if not already present. I've seen it time and time again. There are NO happy joy-filled post-abortive mothers (I've not met even one!) "unless" they repent of their sin. (Mothers who regret, repent of your sin and heal. So you can see your baby in heaven.)

Liberalism overrides sanity.

so very true...one can repent of one’s sin, and even not commit that sin ever again, but here on this earth we still bear the consequences and responsibilities of that sin.

She had a dysfunctional family, but that is no excuse for her personal choice to kill her unborn child. She is like so many others who keep pointing their fingers at anyone/anything they can to place the blame, but the real one responsible is herself.

Selfish, hard-headed, hard-hearted, misguided, and deceived by her own ego...I pray she repents of her sin before it is too late and she condemns herself to eternal fire. How sad a contrast this is to Jesus, who allowed Himself to be sacrificed on our behalf? He truly is God to love us beyond all understanding...

I am friends with a 60-something year old woman in my parish who is the mother of 10 children. One of her daughters became pregnant at 17...despite the fact, went on to graduate high school with excellent grades. She married the father of the child and today they are expecting their 6th baby. The oldest child is making her First Communion with one of my daughter in a couple of weeks. This young woman (with whom I am also friendly with) and her husband—a very good man—are outspoken pro-life members in our community.

This liberal shrew in the article would rather pursue her career being a little dictator than watching one of her children make their First Communion like my friend will. I want to be angry, but it makes me sad that there are people like this. My in-laws and parents are driving in from Indiana to see this momentous occasion in our daughter’s life. My in-laws are Baptists, for goodness sake, but they are just happy to be grandparents to six beautiful children (four are ours) and watch these happy moments. BTW, this child they are coming to see on the 21st was not planned (at least not timing wise), but she is a joy to her family and friends.

Hey, liberal shrew, does that career hug you at night and tell you it loves you?

Didn’t think so.
