I wonder if Mr Thayer would be happy if the highly trained and certified beauticians of the salon showed him their Made in Vietnam underwear. I know I would.
And the owner should really go all the way American and replace that Austrian phrase “St. Tropez” in the name with something domestic like “East L.A.”
These days EVERYONE is offended about something or other.
I wonder what this thin-skinned generation of Americans would have done in response to Hitler and Tojo.... probably piss and moan all day and all night as Europe and Australia fell.

Know what? Screw ‘em. We don’t need them. In 1776 only 17% of the population actively supported the revolution. Do you think we can muster that? And that’s why they want us disarmed.
Wilson got us involved in WWI. After that, the 500K casualties we took in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and so on, were inevitable. For over a century after independence, we stayed out of foreign wars - the Napoleonic, Crimean and Franco-Prussian conflicts were merely curiosities on the foreign news pages. But the lure (and ephemeral prestige) of foreign entanglements proved irresistible to the schemers in Washington, such that many large-scale 20th century wars became generators of obituaries in hometown papers. And that is how we ended up with Vietnamese-owned nail salons in the middle of Texas.
The problem with that is ....a lot of Patels who are US citizen can and do put out their own “American owned” signs. So now Americans would have to be more specific and say something like “White American owned”.....or “Whitey owned”. lol
All sounds much better and more dedicated when the ‘USA’ is meant. You can add ‘of America’ if you see It that way. However in today’s world especially considering Mexico and Central America I much prefer to limit my homeland specifically to USA. Picky I realize but much closer to my reality for being a citizen.
The funny thing is “American owned” stores sell Chinese junk and “American owned” gas stations sell Saudi oil.
point taken
It is news. My salon is Korean or Vietnamese or something like that, and although they do a great job on my manicures, I don’t understand a word they are saying.
I go to an American owned American nail salon. Everyone that works there is American and the owner is a full fledged right wing conservative American They all happen to be originally from Vietnam.
Hmmm... I thought we ended up with Vietnamese nail salons in the middle of Texas because a courageous generation of young Americans went to Southeast Asia to put a finger in the dike of spreading world communism.
Silly me.
Here’s something that’s puzzled me for years now. How do ethnic Asian restaurants become exempted from equal opportunity hiring? I’ve never seen any caucasian employees at a “Vietnamese” restaurant. Not many (or any) caucasian or negro employees at Chinese restaurants, either.
Love me some Pho, however. :-)
