The ratings have spoken and theyre telling television producers that a six-hour, $20 million miniseries on Jesus of Nazareth will prove as great a success as the recent History channel production The Bible.
We believe the audience continues to have a hunger for life- and faith-affirming films, said Michael Landon Jr., who is writing and producing the Jesus of Nazareth series with Brian Bird for Brad Krevoys MPCA, the Hollywood Reporter says. The monumental success of Mark Burnett and Roma Downeys The Bible just underscores that.
Showtime is trying to cash in on spiritual fever, too, with The Vatican, under development now, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Also in the pipeline or currently playing: Lifetimes reality show, Preacher's Daughters, and GSNs Bible-based theme game show.

He gets better.
The following is not intended to spark some lengthy religious debate just one man’s opinion which we all know is almost impossible to change.
I watched the entire Bible series on the History Channel. I came away last night with anger and hatred at not only the entire human race but with any God who would allow such pain and suffering. Lord Acton’s “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” kept running through my thoughts.
Given the lies and distortions we see today from those in power and those who seek power, one can only imagine the difficulty of people back then trying to decypher truth from the fiction imposed by powerful and to attempt to explain the inexplicable.
Even today, for some reason, many seem to cling to the concept that powerful governments are good when all of recorded history should tell us otherwise. They are unparalleled killing machines yet we constantly allow them to become more powerful.
Anyway, I was disappointed in myself as I wanted to come away from this series with more kindness in my heart and the exact opposite took place.
Just one man’s opinion and no more valid/invalid than anyone else.
So it’s only temporary?
Silly post, but not surprising.
“Silly post, but not surprising.”
Oh my goodness. I’m scared.
“Oh my goodness. Im scared.”
Pathetic.
